A Doubt (referred by Visti Larsen)

Dear Visti,

Masterfully done, as usual

Just a small doubt. Under 'conjunction', you remark about Merc's gullibility.

Though I know it is well accepted, I just wonder why Mer has this repute. For

all his wisdom, it's not Jup but Merc who's the karaka for reasoning and

intelligence. Despite the wisdom and knowledge that Jup has, the ability to

sift husk from grain is still with Merc.

I'm tempted to ask whether Merc continues to remain easily impressionable, even

when well-placed in his own house (even if conjunct with a malefic) and Jup is

strong? For example, in a week's time, Merc will be exalted in his own house

and conjunct with Sun and Mars, with Jup exalted! Will Merc still lose powers

of his innate reasoning to the sways of Ma and Su?

Vyasa does all the arranging and dividing, i just listen.

Mercury is the little student of the zodiac, and a quick learner indeed. If he

learns from criminals, then he becomes a criminal, and similarly if he learns

from gurus, he may become a guru himself one day. But he doesn't know any

better than what his circumstances present to him.

 

With all his questions, Mercury becomes wise with answers, and then becomes like

Jupiter.. full of knowledge. Hence Jupiter is the Karaka for knowledge and

intelligence.

 

Basically, a strong Mercury asks excellent questions. His enemy Mars, has

allready decided what the world is all about, and doesn't like asking too many

questionss.
