Guest guest
Respected gurus and other list members When working on the assignments for lesson 5, some doubts about the working of argalas and rasi drishti came up. 1. Does Rasi drishti exist even if there is no planet in the aspecting rasi? To give an example, Aries has rasi drishti on Aquarius. Will the effect be felt even if there is no planet in Aries? In the lesson it is stated that "Rasi aspects are permanent and indeed, the rasi is the one which is casting the aspect". I am interpreting this to mean that rasi aspects exist at all times, without considering the planets. Is that a correct interpretation? 2. Related to the above question, how does the presence of planets in a rasi affect the rasi aspect cast by that rasi? For example, how is the rasi aspect of Aries on Aquarius affected by the presence of a planet in Aries? If there is an effect is it merely one of influencing the strength of the aspect (can we assign strengths to rasi aspects?) or do the qualities of the planet influence the rasi aspect. 3. Is there any difference in strength between different rasi aspects? For example, Aries aspects Aquarius, Scorpio and Leo by rasi drishti. Is the influence the same in all 3 cases? 4. Argala is the intervention brought about by signs and/or planets in various houses from a sign or planet. So in this case, I'm assuming that the effect of the argala is present even if there are no planets situated in those various houses. Am I right in assuming that? 5. When we have both a planet and a sign causing argala how do we judge the effects? For example if it's a malefic planet in a benefic rasi do the effects neutralize each other? Does the argala even depend on the benefic/malefic nature of the planets/signs at all? Hoping to hear from gurus and other learned members of the list. Guest guest
Dear Vinod, I'm neither a guru nor learned, yet I'll try... You've understood what I've understood too. I see rasi drishti as an invariable and destined inter-bhava drishti channel. For example, the Taurus-Leo-Scorpio-Capricorn is a permanent aspect circuit. The zodiacal influence will depend on which planet is in the circuit. Think of this as a set of rooms where windows open out to each other and anyone in any of the rooms can be seen in any of the other rooms. If Jup is in Ta, it will aspect Le, Sc and Cp; it's destined. Graha drishti is more the planet's desire to aspect. As an example, Sun has no desire of seeing the 6th house from it. But if it is placed in Le, it will aspect Cp. Your question isn't too clear here. If all rasis in an aspect circuit are empty, I don't see what kind of influence can exist. An empty zodiac isn't too powerful, is it? How any rasi is influenced depends on who is in it and in the other rasis of its drishti circuit. As an example, let's assume that all 9 planets are in the dual signs. They'll only be rasi-aspecting each other, forgetting graha drishti for the moment. All the movable and fixed rasis are empty, thus there'll be no influence on each other. How Ar will influence Aq is simple to understand, because that'll depend on which planet is in Aq or Ar. Draw a simile to this between your bedroom window and the room that your window looks on to directly. If you're single and there's a coquette in the other room, how will you influence each other? Put an overweight elephant there instead and the difference is telling. Well, nearly 3. Is there any difference in strength between different rasi aspects? For example, Aries aspects Aquarius, Scorpio and Leo by rasi drishti. Is the influence the same in all 3 cases? Afaik, yes. The strength of the planets within them will, of course, make a difference. The influence on Aq from Ar of Sa and Su being there will be vastly different. 4. Argala is the intervention brought about by signs and/or planets in various houses from a sign or planet. So in this case, I'm assuming that the effect of the argala is present even if there are no planets situated in those various houses. Am I right in assuming that? The influence of an empty rasi will be just as much as an empty house next door will influence matters in yours. If there's an alcoholic neighbor, you can guess the argala he'll have on your life. 5. When we have both a planet and a sign causing argala how do we judge the effects? For example if it's a malefic planet in a benefic rasi do the effects neutralize each other? Does the argala even depend on the benefic/malefic nature of the planets/signs at all? Go back to the same example, and put a sage and an alcoholic along the argala-virodhargala path. Work out the net effect for yourself. Warm regards, Ramapriya hubli (AT) vsnl (DOT) com
