Given below is my little attempt to answer Lesson 5. Please

kindly advice, if my understanding is in the right direction.

Answers to Lesson 5.

 

1) In your chart or any chart, explain how a lagna sign's

characteristics and planets connected with that lagna sign influence

the native's personality and health.

 

In My birth Chart Lagna is in Libra. Libra indicates Sudra who is

Tall and Thin. I am thin but not tall, rather medium to short with

5ft 5in as height. Libra is Airy, Rajasic sign, owned by refined

sattwik Venus, giving me lot of day dreams, that are not practical.

Eventhough deep down, I understand, I am DayDreaming.

 

LagnaLord Venus in Scorpio with Malefic Sun (Within 4 degrees),

indicates lot of Ego and arrogance in speech. I am generally

perceived to be that.

 

Ketu as lord of scorpio is in Lagna, in parivartana with Lagna

lord Venus, indicating seeking Artha will be my main focus in this

life. I guess that's what results in dayDreaming. Mercury as the lord

of Gemini (9th) and Virgo (12th) placed in Lagna indicates good

communicative skills and argumentative/debating nature. 9th Lord

Mercury in Lagna with Ketu also may indicate interest in Spiritual

sciences such as Astrology and Meditation, SelfRealization etc...

 

Retrogade Exalted Jupiter in 10th house, aspecting LagnaLord thru

Rasi as well as Graha dhrishti indicates Ego and arrogance in speech

will be curtailed and humility bestowed upon the native. Saturn

aspecting Lagna thru Rasi dhrishti, Lagna Lord thru Graha dhrishti

(10th aspect), from 5th house would indicate good education,

intelligence, but bad health during Saturn's period. I was a sickly

kid in younger days and really thin until Ketu Dasa started in 1994.

I am reasonably intelligent, and completed BE in India and MS in US.

Incidentally both degrees completed in Mercury MahaDasa. Rahu posited

in 7th aspecting Lagna (Graha dhrishti) and Lagna Lord (Rasi

dhrishti) problem with partners and marraige. My marraige was in

doledrums until few months ago (Especially during Ketu Dasa's ending

period). Starting of SukraDasa (lagna lord) was a saving grace, and

life seems to be sailing again okay.

 

 

2) Explain the reason for the exaltation and ownership signs of all

the planets, see lesson#4 as a reference.

 

Sun: Owns Leo and Exalts in Aries. As Sun is a fiery planet, and

naisarigika AtmaKaraka (Undying fire) it owns "Fixed Fire" sign --

Leo. Also Leo is the natural Fifth house, representing Stomach, that

houses digestive system of the body. Sun representing MahaVishnu

(Rama Avatar) is akin to the "Fire" that digests all food.

 

Exalts in another fiery sign Aries, which is owned by Mars -

the Commander-in-cheif. Sun is happiest when leading from the front

(Head) in the battlefield.

 

Moon: Owns Cancer and Exalts in Taurus.

As Moon represents Mother, Love and Emotions, Cancer which

represents "Heart" and is a Movable Watery ("Changing emotions") is

owned by moon.

 

Taurus, the natural second rasi represents growth, Face

(beauty) and Mouth (speech) - a place where a Mother's contribution

is very important and most enjoyed by her, is a natural sign for

Moon's exaltation.

 

Mars: Owns Aries and Scorpio and Exalts in Capricorn

Mars, being a fiery planet in Trines to Sun's Leo, owns

Fiery Aries in his capacity as Commander-in-cheif of Sun's army. Fast

moving Mars is also comfortable in a Movable sign.

Mars also owns Scorpio, which is a Trine to Moon's Cancer.

He owns it in his capacity as "AngaRakshak" for Moon (The Queen of

the planetory cabinet). Fixed Water (Solid Ice) is indicative of

Mar's capacity to hold all the fire inside and be secretive.

Mars get's exalted when destroying enemies of Sun (sixth

from Leo) in capricon.

 

Mercury: Owns Gemini and Virgo and Exalts in Virgo

Mercury being a Youthful planet (Prince designate) owns

natural Thirdhouse, that represents Playgrounds. His mind being not

firm/concrete is indicated by "Dual Air" (Changing often) sign -

Gemeni.

Mercury which governs earth, and represent Vaishyas and so

owns Virgo - an Earthy, Vaishya sign. Moreover as a sign that

represents intelligent arguments and debates fits well for Mercury's

ownership as Mercury also indicates intelligence and fond of debates

etc...

 

 

Jupiter: Owns Sagittareous and Pieces and Exalts in Cancer

Jupiter as MahaMantri in the planetary cabinet, naturally

assumes ownership of Dharma Trine (9th) Sagittarious. As a Minister

that is unflinching in discharging his duties, a Fiery sagittarius

(Trine from Sun's Leo) fits in well.

Jupiter also owns Moksha house (12th) Pieces in his capacity

as "RajaBurohit" - a Trine from Moon's Cancer.

His exaltation, occurs when in close proximity to Moon (The

Queen mother) ,as a compassionate (Heart - cancer) advisor.

 

Venus: OWns Taurus and Libra and Exalts in Pieces

Venus as a "KalatraKaraka", and Asura (Material) Guru assumes

the lordship of Earthy Tamasic Taurus, that represents Face (beauty)

and farmland (riches).

Venus as "Pleasure Seeker" assumes the lordship of natural

7th house, Libra. Libra represents partners (in life and other) and

BedRooms.

venus' ultimate aim is seen in his exaltation in Pieces,

natural 12th house, a Watery Sattwik sign, as his goal is to lead

people to Moksha (12 th house) thru exessive support of Dana (2nd)

and Pleasures/Relationships (7th).

 

Saturn: OWns Capricon and Aquarious and Exalts in Libra

Saturn as the farthest planet from the sun, owns the two

signs that are farthest from Luminaries. Saturn beign Sudra, and slow

moving, he owns Aquarious a contemplating and philosophical sign.

Natural 10th house, Capricorn also is owned by Saturn as he

represents hardwork.

Saturn exalts, when close to AsuraGuru, who can guide him

properly in Venus' Libra.

 

Rahu: (Co)owns Aquarious and Exalts in Taurus

Rahu as a planet that cause re-birth, co-owns Tamasic

Aquarious with saturn, in direct opposition to Sun's Leo.

Rahu exalts when he occupies Taurus (natural second house)

that represents Material excesses.

 

Ketu: (Co)owns Scorpio and Exalts in Scorpio

Ketu, the cause of emancipation (MokshaKaraka), coowns

scorpio, the sign of death (natural 8th house).

His Exaltation position is also the same.

 

Also, there could be another way of looking at ownership of non-

luminous planets. As Sun and Moon indiacte Day (Aho) and Night(Ratra)

respectively, the other five planets are assigned a house on each

side (i.e on Sun's side and Moon's side), based on their proximity

(physical distance from Sun) to Sun. So Mercury which is closest to

the Sun gets a house on either side closest from the Sun etc...until

Saturn, that is physically the farthest from Sun, gets a house

farthest from Sun and Moon.

 

 

3) Take the dual rasis owned by non-luminous planets and compare the

characteristics of their two rasis. Findout how the lordship gets

altered for these two rasis because of the difference in

characteristics

 

Mercury :

Gemini - maybe conisdered to give more of Male (malefic)

characteristics with Constant change in (Dual Air) direction. Playful

youthful character (Gemini indicates sports grounds). Indicates

Medium height person. Indicates a working class person.

 

Virgo - More Female characterestics(benefic) with strong

(stubborn) attitude (Dual Earth). Indicates taller person. Indicates

a perseon well skilled in Arguments & debates.

 

Venus :

Taurus - Female (Benefic) characteristics. Indicates a

Businessman with beautiful Speech/face. Indicates short stubborn

(Fixed Earth) person. Indicates Material success.

Libra - Male (Malefic) characteristics. Indicates Working

class person. Indicates Tall, Dreaming (Movable Air) person.

Indicates pleasure seeking person.

 

Mars :

Aries - Fiery Male (Malefic) character. Indicates Indicates

Short strong person. Shows a Warrior Mars with fiery nature.

Scorpio - Cold secretive Female (Benefic) character.

Indicates a tall person. Shows Wise man (Angarakshaka kind) with lot

of secrets.

 

Jupiter :

Sagittarius - Shows Strong Fiery Man (Malefic)

characteristics. Fiery enforcer of Dharma as MahaMantri.

Pieces - Shows Female (Benefic) Characteristics.

Blessing the universe as Blissful purohit.

Saturn :

Capricorn - Stubborn Female (Benefic) characteristics.

Indicates businessman.

Aquarious - Male (Malefic) characteristics. Indicates

working class person.

 

 

4) List the words and terminologies, which you do not understand in

this lesson (even after

searching in texts.
