Dear Katti

Good attempt. Try correlating colors and items or things also with this basic

evaluation. For example why is yellow attributed to Jupiter white to Venus?

What are the colors of the signs? Light Pink causes the exaltation of Jupiter

and this is the color of UGRATARA..the Adi Shakti of Brihaspati. Understand the

Mahavidya in this manner.

Please be kind enough to evaluate my lesson 5 submission attempt and guide me.

 

 

Q1. In your chart or any chart, explain how a lagna sign’s characteristics

and planets connected with that lagna sign influence the native’s

personality and health.

 

Ans.

 

My chart data is as follows. 3rd nov 1970 8:33AM, Bangalore, India (77E36, 12N58) Time zone -5:30 E

 

Scorpio lagna rises with no planet posted in Sc. Sc has two lords, mars and

ketu. Mars is in the 11th house, in Virgo where as Ketu is posted in the 10th

in Leo. Both mars and ketu are with no other planet i.e they are alone. But

ketu get;s to be the lord of Sc for the following reasons.

 

1. Ketu is posted in Leo, and Leo lord sun aspects ketu.

2. More number of planets aspect ketu. In this case Jupiter, Mercury, Sun and

Venus ® (Venus is my Ak) aspect ketu in Leo.

 

Hence ketu get's to be my lagna lord.

 

Starting from the characteristics of lagna viz. Sc, my observations are the following.

 

Sc, Scorpio rises with the head and it is of long ascension. It is a watery

sign, so taking a cue from that. i should have been on the fatter side. But on

the contrary, i am skinny. This is because of the fact that Saturn who is a

Airy planet, posted in Aries who is a dry sign, making me skinny or lean. To

add to this, lagna lord Ketu is also posted in a dry sign Leo. Due to the fact

that Saturn from Aries has a rasi dristi on my lagna i am lean.

 

Going further since Saturn from Aries has a rasi aspect on my lagna, i should

have been dark in appearance. Seeing my navamsa lagna which happens to be

Sagittarius is aspected by Sun and Venus by Rasi aspect. Navamsa lagna lord is

Jupiter and hence my complexion is fair. Since my Lagna is Sc which is of long

ascension, i am taller than normal average. ofcourse keeping in mind kala,

desha and patra. For Indian standards i could be considered tall.

 

My lagna has an argala from moon (moon is in the 2nd in saggi), thus moon

intervenes in the affairs of my lagna.

 

The above description was largely physical in nature. Now to my personality

traits based on my lagna. Sc lagna shows that inherently i am to some extent

secretive and come across as an introvert person. I very rarely forget and

forgive. As the traits of Sc, i am deeply interested in occult viz Vedic

Astrology.

 

Q2. Explain the reason for exaltation and ownership signs of all planets. See

lesson #4 as Reference.

 

Ans.

 

I had read on the list an analogy given by Gurudev Shri Narasimha Rao regarding

Moolatrikona being Dharma or duty, own house being as a comfortable state,

exaltation as being the happiest state and debilitation being the most un-happy

state for planets. I hope to use the same analogy to explain why each planet has

it;s MT (moola-trikona), own house, Exaltation and debilitation as certain

houses only.

 

Sun

 

The graha sun stands for Atman and the self. Aries is the first sign in the

natural zodiac and corresponds to the self, physique. Aries is a fiery sign and

Rajasic in nature. What sun enjoys doing is boosting the activity of the Atma.

Thus Aries is the exaltation point of Sun.

 

The fifth sign in the natural zodiac is Leo. Its Saatwik in nature. The 5th

stands for intelligence. This is Sun's duty or Dharma. Thus Leo is the

Moolatrikona sign of Sun. This activity is also what sun is comfortable in

performing. Thus Leo is sun;s own house too. Leo is also the place for kings.

The giver of Raja yoga is Sun!!!!

 

The 7th sign in the natural zodiac is the setting sign too. The sun is weak when

he sets. Thus this is the place where sun does not like being as compared to

east (Aries from the natural zodiac) where he is strong the 7th sign Libra is

his debilitation point.

 

Moon

 

Cancer is the 4th sign in the natural zodiac. The 4th signifies Mother. What

moon (mother) is comfortable doing is taking care of the child. Thus Cancer is

the own house for Moon.

 

Mother is most happy when the child is fed. The second house in the natural

zodiac stands for Food. In broader sense this house also stands for sustenance.

Food sustains. Thus moon is most happiest when food is provided to the child.

Thus Taurus is the Exaltation point of moon.

 

The Dharma or duty of moon also is sustenance.This too falls in Taurus. Thus

Moolatrikona of moon is Taurus. As taught in lesson 5, if 2nd house stands for

feeding then the 8th house is where moon will be most unhappy. This 8th house

that is Scorpio has nothing to do with sustenance, in fact it;s the opposite of

sustenance. Thus moon naturally get;s debilitated in the sign of Scorpio.

 

Mars.

 

The first house in the natural zodiac is Aries which stands for physique and

it's strength. Mars is comfortable providing strength to the physique. Thus

Aries is the own house for mars

 

The Dharma or duty of mars coincides with the activity of boosting strength.

Thus Aries is it's moolatrikona also

 

Mars signifies action or planned karma. Thus mars is most happiest in the 10th

house (karma) of the natural zodiac. This is Capricorn. Capricorn is an earthy

sign. Mars is most happy in performing defined karma. Thus mars is exalted in

Capricorn

 

Mars is tamasic in nature. The primordial element of mars is fire. Cancer is a

saatwik in nature and it's primordial element is water. All this is opposite

traits of mars. The element of water is fluid.. again opposite of earthy as in

Capricorn. Thus mars hates to be in Cancer. Mars debilitation point is Cancer

 

Mercury

 

Mercury stands for intellect and communications. The 3rd sign in the natural

zodiac, Gemini stands for these attributes. This is what mercury is

comfortable doing. Thus Gemini is the own house for mercury.

 

Mercury loves debates. Matching one;s wit against another, leading often to

arguments. The 6th house in the natural zodiac is Virgo. As mentioned Mercury

does best in debates and arguments. Thus mercury is Exalted in the tamasic sign

of Virgo.

 

While Mercury is comfortable in Gemini performing the actions of communications,

the dharma or duty of mercury again in debates and matching wits. Thus Virgo is

the moolatrikona of mercury

 

Mercury's element is earth and taamasic. Mercury is most uncomfortable in a

watery and a saatwik sign Pisces. Thus Debilitation of mercury happens in

Pisces

 

Jupiter

 

Jupiter is a Saatwik planet. Jupiter stands for knowledge, wisdom, guru of the

many things. Jupiter is most comfortable in a watery sign of Pisces analogous

to religious practices. Thus Jupiter;s own house is Pisces

 

Jupiter;s duty is the upholding dharma. Thus the 9th house of the natural zodiac

which is the fiery Sagittarius is where Jupiter;s duty lies. Thus Sagittarius is

the Moolatrikona of Jupiter.

 

The 4th house in the natural zodiac is cancer. 4th house is knowledge, teachings

of the guru. This is what Jupiter is most happy performing.. that is imparting

knowledge. Thus Cancer is the exaltation point of Jupiter.

 

Jupiter is Saatwik in nature. He is most unhappy being placed in a tamasic sign

of Capricorn. Capricorn also is the 10th house (action or karma) of the natural

zodiac. Jupiter inherent nature is to be idealistic. He does not like performing

defined (practical) actions. Thus Capricorn is the debilitation point of

Jupiter.

 

Venus

 

Venus is the most refined planet. She stands for marriage and related matters.

The 7th sign of the natural zodiac is Libra. The dharma of Venus is to promote

marriage. Thus Libra is the moolatrikona of Venus.

 

Venus is most comfortable performing the above said activity that is of

promoting the institution of marriage. Thus Libra is also the own house for

Venus

 

The 12th house stands for pleasures of the bed. This is what Venus is most happy

in bringing out. Thus the 12th sign of the natural zodiac, Pisces is the

Exaltation point of Venus

 

The opposite traits of Venus is debates and/or arguments. This is the taamasic

sign of Virgo as it;s the 6th from the natural zodiac. This is where Venus

hates to be in. Thus Virgo is the debilitation point for Venus

 

Satrun

 

In the scheme of planets, Saturn is the eldest of all. The dharma of satrun is

to behave and act like that of an elder brother. Hence Aquarius, the 11th house

in the natural zodiac is where his dharma is. Thus the moolatrikona of saturn is

Aquarius.

 

Saturn is the planet which judges us based on karma. Our actions make this great

planet saturn to either save us or punish us. Thus Saturn is comfortable in the

10th house (karma) of the natural zodiac. Thus Capricorn is the own house of

saturn.

 

Saturn in addition to being the eldest and promoter of karma is the ultimate

judge. The power to punish is rests with satrun. The only sign in the natural

zodiac that has the symbol and the inner meaning of justice (The balance) is

Libra. Thus Libra is the exaltation point of Saturn.

 

Saturn's dire enemy is Sun. Next enemy is Mars. Thus how can saturn be happy

when he is in Aries? Aries is the exaltation (happiest state) of sun and the

arena of mars too. Thus saturn would never be happy in Aries. Thus Aries is the

debilitation sign of Satrun.

 

Rahu

 

Rahu is the moon;s ascending node. He is characterized by the fact that he has a

head unlike ketu the moon's descending node. Rahu's Dharma or duty is to

instigate fights, arguments and accidents. Thus the Moolatrikona of Rahu is

Virgo, the 6th sign of the natural zodiac.

 

Rahu is comfortable in giving material gains. Thus Rahu owns the 11th sign in

the natural zodiac, that being Aquarius

 

The 3rd house of the natural zodiac is Gemini and rahu gives creative work. This

makes him very happy. Thus Gemini is the exaltation point of Rahu.

 

Rahu has little respect for well laid down dharma or conventional rules and

wisdom. Thus Rahu is debilitated in Sagittarius

 

Ketu

 

Ketu has no head. Thus he has no desires. The duty of ketu is the ultimate goal

of moksha. The 12th sign of the natural zodiac stands for final liberation from

this cycle of birth. Thus ketu's moolatrikona is Pisces.

 

Ketu is most happy when he is involved with religious activities. This is the

9th sign of the natural zodiac. Thus Sagittarius is the exaltation point of

Ketu

 

Ketu is most comfortable imparting the knowledge of occult. This is the 8th

(secret) sign of the natural zodiac - Scorpio. Thus Scorpio is the own house

for Ketu

 

Ketu being without desires and promoter of religion can never be happy in

Gemini. Gemini is the 3rd house in the natural zodiac which stands for desires.

3rd house is also an Upachaya which stands for effort to gain something. Thus

Gemini is the debilitation sign of Ketu

 

Q3. Take the dual rasis owned by non-luminous planets and compare the

characteristics of their 2 rasi's. Find out how the lordship get;s altered for

these two rasis because of the difference in characteristics.

 

Ans. The dual signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. I will first

start to attempt the 1st pair of Gemini and Virgo which are lorded by Mercury.

 

Mercury owns both Gemini and Virgo. The overall characteristic of Gemini is that

of the yuvaraja or the heir apparent. All mercury likes to do is to play,

entertain, be entertained. All this traits are that of Gemini, where as Virgo

as a sign is to more evolved. The other traits of mercury like that of debates,

matching one;s wit against the other. Thus both Gemini and Virgo though owned by

the same mercury, the characteristics of each of these signs are so very

different

 

Sagittarius and Pisces are owned by Jupiter. Sagittarius is the 9th house in the

natural zodiac and the traits of Sagittarius is always to uphold and promote

Dharma. This same Jupiter who owns Pisces also behaves differently here. Pisces

is the 12th house in the natural zodiac. The 12th house stands for Moksha and

Charity. It also stands for religious places. Thus again, the characteristics

of Pisces and Sagittarius are vastly different even though their lord is the

same.

 

 

I most eagerly await an evaluation of this attempt of mine. I look forward to

the guru;s and other learned members to correct and guide me.
