Guest guest
om namoh bhagavathe rudraaya ---------------------------- Dear Nisha, I am not an expert in Sanskrit, but nevertheless, this is basic. The dot between two syllables should be pronounced as *n* as in Ganga. The dot at the end should be pronounced as *m* as in Amritam. Guest guest
Mr. Skanda Kumar, if you have heard of mangal mantra Om Ang Angarkaya Namah, your confusion for the dot on the syllables would fade. I do consistently putforth the right pronunciation as Ms. Nisha rightly said " Om Gang Ganapataye Namah". It is not Gam in any way. Guest guest
Shree Ganeshaya NamahRespected Gurujis and friendsHere is my take on this although I do not consider myself capable of explaining HIM or HIS beejakshara mantra. The GANAPATI ATHARVASHEERSHA (I recite this regularly) clearly mentions that the beejaakshara for Ganesh is GAM: a combination of Ga-kara (ga-sound), A-kara (aa-sound), Ma-kara (ma-sound) and says it is the essence of all sound the nada, the Cosmic Sound. From what I learnt in school, anuswar indicates a nasal (anunasik) and modifies Ga to 'GaM'. "Gang" is definitely not nasal. The relevant lines are:"... etattava manusvaruupaM | gakaaraH puurvaruupaM ||akaaro madhyamaruupaM | anusvaarakshvaantyaruupaM ||binduruttararuupaM | naadaH sandhaanaM ||..."RegardsJayakrishnan >Lalta Prasad Shrivastava >sjvc >sjvc >Re: [sjvc] Re: Ganpati Stotra >Fri, 14 Jun 2002 11:00:52 -0700 (PDT) > > > As a matter of fact, I thought this list might be a platform so that if anybody needs guidance or if any person guides anybody without proper justification of the matter, the learned gurus would come to EXISTENCE to show the right path, but I am sorry to say no one came up to solve most of the problems since I happened to join the list. People with half baked knowledge are running this list which could have been a great platform if a few serious learned members have shown dedication. >Mr. Skanda Kumar, if you have heard of mangal mantra Om Ang Angarkaya Namah, your confusion for the dot on the syllables would fade.
