Dear Jyotisha,

 

Please who might allocate the most important methods in definition of

a choice of time conception. There are many aspects in Muhurta

Jyotisha, what of them the most essential? May be exist, any special

rules?

It is very important, as quality of the population of the earth

depends on it. Many people suffer in a consequence, that the choice of

time for conception of children was not correctly made. Please clear

this question.

Dear Chandra,

I came across the following in "Dharmasindhu", with regard to the time of

conception:

The 4th, 6th, 8th, and 14th day after full moon or the dark moon, the full

moon day, and the dark moon day should be avoided. Mondays, Wednesdays,

Thursdays, and Fridays are good. Moola, Magha, Revati, and Jestha nakshatras

should be avoided. Bharani, Krutika, aadra, Ashlesha, Poorwashadha,

Poorvabhadrapad, and Vishakha are medium, and remaining nakshatras are good.

But there are no reasoning or special rules given.

 

I hope this information will be of some help.

I will try to give some hints about choosing muhurta for conception. I'm not

an expert on this and I would be benefited by comments of learned Gurus and

other members.

 

"Muhurta Cintamani" states;

Time which is to be rejected in having sexual intercourse for conception:

The husband should leave;

- all the three gandantas (tithi, nakshatra and rashi gandanta),

- Vadha and Janma tara ( 7/10/16/19/25th nakshatras from birth or janma

nakshatra),

- Nakshatras; Moola, Bharani, Ashwini, Rewati, Magha,

- the time of eclipse of Sun and Moon,

- Yogas of Vyatipata and Vaidhriti,

- the days of shraddha of the father and/or mother,

- the day time,

- the first half of Parigha yoga,

- the Nakshatra troubled by Utpata (portent),

- Lagna of the 8th sign from the janma rashi,

- Lagna of a malefic planet (1/5//10/11).

 

Auspicious times;

- the karana of Bhadra,

- shashthi (6th tithi),

- the days of festivals,

- the Rikta Tithis (4/9/14),

- the evening time,

- days; Tuesday, Sunday, Saturday

- nakshatras; Uttaraphalguni, Uttarashada, Uttarabhadrapada, Mrigashira,

Hasta, Anuradha, Rohini, Swati, Shravana, Dhanistha & Shatabhisha.

 

Other auspicious times: After the begining of the menstrual discharge the

sexual intercourse done for having a son on the even days within the

interval from 4th till 16th (from the beginning of the menses) day is the

giver of a son. Sunday and Tuesday are also good for male child. Even days

and Monday, Friday, Thursday are for daughter. Wednesday and Saturday are

neutral.

 

This is stated in "Muhurta Cintamani". In "Saravali" you can find one

chapter dedicated to conception and also in the book about electional

astrology (I don't remember the name of this book) of B.V.Raman also.

 

There is also one thing which can be of some interest to you and others;

 

following text about when Manu Codes allow trying for a child (or recommend

it) is written by Bhanu Swami (from ISCKON);

 

The following are the forbidden times. Out of ten days, if 3 days are

subtracted as Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, and forbidden naksatras and

tithis are avoided, then not many days are left per month.

 

Numbering the nights from the start of the menses of the woman, then at

least the first four nights are forbidden for sexual activity.

Kalaprakasika, states that the first day is fatal for the husband,the second

day is fatal forthe wife, thethird day causes abortion and the fourth day

impairs the power of the father and produces a short lived son bereft of

good habits.

 

Srila Prabhupad gives a slightly longer period.

 

The recommended period is six days after the menstruation period.

The eleventh and thirteenth nights are also forbidden, as the offspring

produced are of bad quality. The remaining ten days are permitted, and the

later nights are favored. Even numbered nights favor male children, and

uneven numbers favor female children. Sexual union after the sixteenth

night is also forbidden. In the sequence below the starred days starting

from 1 (beginning of menses) are forbidden for sexual intercourse.

The remaining ten days (5-10, 12, 14-16) are suitable provided they do not

Forbidden Lunar Tithis:

 

Sexual union must also be avoided on days of vrata and fasting, such as

ekadasi, and on the parva days (full moon, dark moon, astami and caturdasi

tithis, as well as sankranti, when the sun passes into a new zodiac sign)

when the body is in weak condition, and the days when the moon passes

throught the same naksatra as at ones birth.

 

Forbidden Week days:

Saturday, Tuesday and Sunday should be avoided being ruled by malefic

planets,saturn, Mars and Sun.

 

Forbidden Naksatra: contact should be avoided when the moon is in the

following constellations: bharani, krttika, ardra, aslesa, magha,

purvaphalguni, visakha, jyestha, purvasada, purvabhadra

My analysis may be wrong. Respected Gurus can correct

me.

 

>From what I see in the message that you have sent,

days from 10 through 17 are forbidden for having sex.

 

According to the doctors a woman can bear children

only when egg is released and fertilized in time.For a

normal woman who has a 28 day cycle the 14th or 15th

day is the most probable date for release of egg and

fertilizing of the egg.

 

If the intercourse does not happen at that time, I

don't know where the child can come from.

 

Also to my knowledge having intercourse within the

first 6 days of the menstrual cycle will have no

effect as the woman cannot concieve on those days.

 

My medical knowledge is limited, experts and gurus can

throw more light on this.

Namaste,

 

thank you for coming with this point. I'm aware that doctors claims that

only on 14th and or 15th day from the begining of menses woman can become

pregnant.

If you carefuly read the message that I sent, you can see that it is said

that in the interval from 4th till 16th day from the begining of menses

woman can become pregnant. So, 14th and 15th days are also included.

I don't know much about medicine and reason for such a timing, but I never

saw that any jyotish authority speaks that ONLY 14th or 15th days from the

begining of the menses is the right muhurta for conception.

 

I would like to hear the comments from Gurus on the list, please.

Dear Darpaha Dasa,

Namasthe,

 

In fact I was talking about ideal condition i.e. 28

days menstrual cycle which is not for everyone.

 

The principle for release of egg for fertilizing is

period cycle minus 14 days.For example, if a woman has

31 day cycle then the day of egg release is 17, which

is not good for coitus according to the rules given.

Similarly if a woman has 26 day cycle then she will

have her egg released on 12th day which is again not

considered good for coitus.

 

So, I was just wondering how these rules can apply in

the modern world of stress and strain.Becuase stress

and strain play an important role in deciding the days

of the cycle.

 

Let us wait to hear from the gurus to enlighten us.
