Dear Solai and gurus,

namaste.

Here are my answers on lesson 5.

1.In your chart or any chart, explain how a lagna sign’s characteristics

and planets connected with that lagna sign influence the native’s

personality and health.

- My ascendant is Aquarius (my chart is attached). Lord of Aq are Saturn and

Rahu. In my case Saturn is debilitated and Rahu is AK, so Rahu is stronger and

takes over the lordship of Aquarius.

I can say that I feel strong influence of Rahu's nature in my life (because I'm

also at this moment at the end of Rahu mahadasa). Rahu and Aquarius can be a

little bit independent or unmanageable, extravagant. The attributes that I can

recognize in myself (which are quoted in the lesson) are hard-working, stoic,

honest. In my case Rahu is the only planet which is giving argala on ascendant

but this argala is obstructed by Moon in 12th house. So, ascendant in my case

is without any argala or intervention and help. Aspects (rasi dristi) are

coming from debilitated Saturn (who can increase above mentioned attribute of

"hard-working"), Sun and Mercury (good health and intelligence, but because

Mercury is very badly placed /in the 6th/ and slightly combusted he can give

childish and naive behavior sometimes). Graha dristi is coming from Mars, this

can also give some fire and occasional anger.

Interesting thing for Aquarius is that Venus is badhakesh and in the same time

yogakaraka (because he is the lord of 4th and 9th house - rajayoga). I feel

this strongly, Venusian passion and desire which can escape the control can be

harmful for dharma and religion (9th house is badhakasthana). In the same time

if this passion is directed and used by intelligence in the right way it can

give success and accomplishment of many goals.

During the Rahu mahadasa I start to practice spiritual process of chanting the

holy names of God, got diksha initiation, lived for some years in ashram under

the direction of guru etc. It was spiritually very uplifting, but materially I

did not advanced much (except maybe a little bit in the last 2 or 3 years).

Rahu as Atmakaraka obviously is doing his job very nicely.

2.Explain the reason for the exaltation and ownership signs of all the planets,

See lesson # 4 as a reference.

- Ownership: Sun is actually the ruler of the whole zodiac. Because the Moon

is other luminous planet then the rulership of the zodiac is split in two

between Sun and the Moon, every of this two planet gets the half of the zodiac.

To give the rulership to the other planets also then the zodiac is divided into

12 equal parts (signs), each of 30 degrees. Sun and Moon rule over the Leo and

Cancer, next planet which is closest to Earth is Mercury and to him is given

the rulership over the two signs which are adjacent to Leo and Cancer and this

are Virgo and Gemini. Next planet is Venus which rules the next signs; Libra

and Taurus. Next is Mars; Scorpio and Aries. Next is Jupiter; Sagittarius and

Pisces. And the last (but not the least) is Saturn which rules over the two

signs Capricorn and Aquarius.

Exaltation:

Sun is exalted in Aries. Sun likes the fire and heat of Aries, like the king

which is in the company of his general; they are ready for the action.

Moon is exalted in the Taurus. Moon is like the mother which nourishes and take

care of the children and Taurus can give to the Moon field in which he can

become fully fruitful.

Mercury is exalted in his own sign Virgo. Mercury puts very much attention to

details and precision. He likes logic and reasoning and Virgo is the sign in

which he can express this attributes to the fullest extent.

Venus is exalted in Pisces; soft Pisces can give artistic freedom which Venus like.

Mars is exalted in Capricorn, a practical and earthly sing. Mars is soldier and

under the discipline he works the best.

Jupiter is exalted in Cancer. Cancer is also braminical sign. Jupiter is the

most benefic planet, he is karaka for knowledge, children, happiness, wealth...

Jupiter and Cancer cooperate nicely together.

Saturn is exalted in Libra. Venus and Saturn are friends and Saturn feels good

when he is Venusian sign. Saturn is like the servant or outcaste and Venus is

the most liberal planet which can accept Saturn.

This conclusions are only my opinion, I don't know if there is some reference in

the sastras for determination of the exaltation or debilitation of the planets.

If there is some, I would like to know. If anyone know, please inform me on

this.

3.Take the dual rasis owned by the non-luminous planets and compare the

characteristics of their two rasis. Find out how the lordship gets altered for

these two rasis because of the difference in characteristics.

- Dual rasis are Gemini, Virgo (lorded by Mercury) and Sagittarius and Pisces

(lorded by Jupiter.

Gemini is the sign of communication, education, learning, he has interest in

everything (he is very curious)... His element is air. Caste is sudra.

Virgo is somewhat similar to Gemini but a little bit more "adult" than Gemini

(like older brother). Element is earth and caste is vaisya.

Sagittarius is the sign of idealists and adventurers. His element is fire and

caste is ksatriya. He likes also administration of justice.

Pisces are most braminical sign, this is the sign of religiosity, deep truth and

final liberation from this mortal world. Element is water.

So, we can see that there are all four elements and all four casts present in

signification of this four dual rasis. Dual rasis represent Visnu (movable

rasis - Brahma, fixed - Siva).

Gemini and Virgo are similar and yet there is difference also. The same is the

case with Sagittarius and Pisces. Similarity is here because the lord is the

same and the lord of the sign, of course, can give some characteristics to his

sign.

I must admit that I do not understand the last sentence of the question (about

altered lordships of dual rasis). I will wait for clarification and read

answers of others.

Dear Solai and other gurus,

I will be happy to hear your comments and corrections.

Hare Krishna,

Darpaha Dasa.
