Guest guest
Respected Sanjayji, Pranam. I really feel happy and proud as you address me as `jk'. I am greatfull for your guidance. What you have told is very true. I like musical chanting of stotras specially devi stotras like of mahachandi, lalita shasranamam etc. and offering naivedya and dhoopa is alwyas has been a part of my pooja. But presently, due to lack of time - I perform manasik puja, which gives me more concentration and joy. But I could not understand what is meant by jyot. Does it mean agarbatti or agni-homa? Can you kindly guide me on this? Another thing is not clear to me. Saturn is my lagna lord. Will he misguide me on this? Also Rahu is co-asc lord and Mars is my 10th lord. Will they also compell me to perform mistakes? During my childhood - once I got one beejmantra in dream. I still remember that some body in total white dress gave me the mantra. Now after reading books I know that it was chandrabeeja. But I never practiced the same as I was not sure whether it is ari mantra or not. Now after learning about Ista and Palanadevata (both are mahalakhsmi in my case), I am reciting saptaskhari Mahalakhsmi mantra starting by the letter "sreem"- as my A11, A3 and A9 are in 7th house. Am I making any mistake? I feel that I have already started getting positive result by this. Please guide me. If you permit I can send you the mantra I am practising by personal mail. With humble regards, dasgupta - Sanjay Rath sjvc Saturday, April 27, 2002 11:56 PM Re: [sjvc] ishta devata Om Gurave Namah ------------------------ Dear JK The mantrapada in Virgo indicates that the Mantra shall be strong and its conjunction with Moon, Venus and Mercury shall dominate over the aspects of Saturn and Rahu. If you observe your mantras recitation carefully you will notice subtle variations brought about during the periods of the concerned planets. Mercury being the strongest indicates you will like music and such mantra that are uplifting or that give immence happiness and joy, make you smile. Like this interpret for the Moon & Venus. Offering of Naivedya (Jala tatwa - Moon & Venus) and Dhoop (prithvi tatwa - mercury) shall be important parts of your pooja. Aspect of Mars, Rahu & saturn is most undesirable in this scenario indicating Deepa dosha i.e. there is error in the lighting of the lamp (ensure that you use a diya and not a jyot at home), forgeting the order or making such errors (Saturn) and some strange negative effect due to Paapa mantra (Rahu & sat). Warning: these planets may cause you to practise Ari mantra and you should check the mantra compatibility with your chart before proceeding further as given in my books. The type of music that will make the mind strong and brave against all odds is seen from the strongest planet in mantrapada. Guest guest
Dear Dasguptaji, I feel so overawed when I hear you and Lakshmi and Visti and others on the list speak about mantras and japas. You people even dream of beej mantras! I feel so lowly in front of all of you. I suppose all this is meant for me in some future life time, my 9th lord snugly sitting in badhakasthan. My mother, a very religious person, always despairs as to how she could have produced such a non-spiritual/religious daughter! Sanjayji has suitably squashed me by saying my interest in all this is like someone questioning their parents or our deep rooted desire to dictate terms to god. I think he is right about the questioning bit although I am not consciously aware of trying to dictate terms. Maybe if I hang around you people long enough I will learn something about the spiritual life, so that in my future incarnations (I am not about to attain moksha easily, 12th lord in badhakasthan) I may take mantra and do japas. In this life I am destined to only question. Sad, but true, however all is the will of Mother. In fact, I am not bothered about moksha either, I am just happy to leave everything in Her hands and continue to do my work. Guest guest
dear sarvaniji, you are making atleast me ashamed. please do not thing that i am a religeous person. i very much dislike visiting temples and performing so called public religeous rites. and all my understandings - wrong or right, are only intellectual. i may have lot of knowledge on geography of london - but the man who has been there need not know any geography or intellectual understanding of the place. he is london himself. that is the situation with me. we are all searching for the purpose of life here-at various levels. regarding moksha - i remember one story. once shiva and parvati was visiting earth and arguing on this subject. then they came accross a tapaswi - who was very sencerely carriying out his sadhana. when he saw shiva and parvati - he asked, "when i will get mokhsa?". shiva answered, "after 5 births". the tapaswi became very sad. then they came accross another tapaswi. he did not ask anything. shiva told him "you shall get mokhsa after 100 births". the tapaswi started dancing in joy. parvati asked him "why you are dancing?". the man answered, " i am happy to know that i would get mokhsa so early". shiva then told to parvati,"look, desire for mokhsa is also a desire - this man do not have that, so he should get mokhsa at once" and granted him mokhsa. sarvaniji, you are like the second tapaswi. regards, dasgupta - Sarbani Sarkar sjvc Monday, April 29, 2002 1:58 PM Re: [sjvc] ishta devata & mantrapada-Sanjayji Dear Dasguptaji,I feel so overawed when I hear you and Lakshmi and Visti and others onthe list speak about mantras and japas. Guest guest
Om Gurave Namah ------------------------ Dear Sarabani You are wrong about the 'not likely to attain moksha part'. Ketu sits in the 12th from Karakamsa and indicates every likelihood for Moksha. Ista Devata is Kali without an iota of doubt, but do repeat the astakshari OM NAMO NARAAYANAYA everyday. Jupiter is the Guru and 9th lord and his placement in the badhak house indicates suffering due to ignoring the Guru vak. Guru is in Meena amsa! Just go to Puri and fall at Jagannath's feet and say 'Om Krishna Guru' and see the miracles that follow as far as knowledge is concerned. You will ultimately worship the Nirguna Naraayana and then you will become detatched and attain bliss. For seven years from June 2002 you will worship the Guru with great devotion thereafter between 56-59 you will make serious attempts at sense control! with spiritual awakening coming in your 60th year (2021-22). Your financial distress shall end after this June when you sincerely bow to Jagannath and then you go to any Shiva temple and pray: Om Namo Devadevesha paratpara JagatGurum Sadashivam Mahadevam Guru Diksha PraDehi Me. May Sri Jagannath Mahaprabhu bless you with a good knowledge in the coming 7 years. Guest guest
Dear Sanjayji, I am extremely grateful to you for this rare and unexpected gift. Thank you, it must be my lucky day. You speak after my heart and there is nothing more I'd rather do than abnegate myself at the feet of Narayana. Over the past few years I have been increasingly drawn towards him, a pull, the way the Mother pulls. Almost as if the first half of my life was taken up by Shiv, and the second half by Narayana, and the Devi has always been there is a parallel stream. And yes, I always tend to pray to them in a nirguna form. I am automatically led in a certain direction and I follow my heart, without trying to analyse it. If I have to do japa, it can only be Narayana, I think I already knew that, but did not dare admit it, till someone pointed it out. That is the reason why I refused diksha at Sarda Math. My father's mother was directly initiated by Sri Sri Ma, and half my family has been initiated at either Sarada Math or RKM. So the pressure was high on me from my mother. Though I am very cose to the Math people and love them very early, I can not bear to get incorrect initiation and I could not speak about all this to anyone. These things cannot be told to everyone, I think you will appreciate that only too well. I let all concerned continue to believe that I am not a spiritually inclined person. That is why I want to say a special 'thank you' to you. It is not that I am disobedient to the guru or his/her vac but that there has always been obstacles to whatever guru stand for: mantra, higher knowledge (my Ph.D. is still incomplete). Always there are badhas everywhere. But Mangal has given me inner strength and Shani the capacity to work hard, so the two combined gives me the tenacity to persevere and overcome obstacles. Of course at great losses. How did you calculate my ishta devta? You obviously did not consider my sun in 12th from karakamsha. Is it Shani? I suppose Shani plays a big role in all this, in moon's nakshatra and now transiting my janma rohini. I think you did a different take on my chart than the conventional methods to come to the conclusions that you did. Guru is in meen in navamsha but it is in rahu's domain in rashi; what does that signify? ( How did you know about my financial distress?). It is indeed my privilege to fall at Lord Jagannath's feet. I had indeed had my first darshan of him in 1996-97, actually even before that when I was 2 years old! But it is time again...and thank you once again, Sarbani Sanjay Rath wrote: Om Gurave Namah ------------------------ Dear Sarabani You are wrong about the 'not likely to attain moksha part'. Guest guest
Dear Sanjayji, Here's my take on how you arrived at my ishta devata. In 12th from karakamsha there are saturn, moon and ketu. Saturn's devata is Kali. The 12th being a Mercurial sign, Vishnu comes into the picture, and Moon gives the particular avatar: Krshna. Since Kali and Krshna are together in Vishnu's sign, you got the Nirguna Narayana. I am sure there might be other factors, but I just did the 12H. Visti wrote that 9th lord in badhakasthan implies that the native has forgotten the deity of the previous birth. I just stumbled upon this in VRIA too. Without getting into details, this tallies with the palm leaf Agasthyeear Shiv Naadi reading of my past life that was done a few months back.
