Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha. Namaste we have had many conversations on calculating Ista Devata we all should feel comfortable with this now. I would like to ask a bit deeper question on this if I may:1. If Atma Karaka is Rahu - does it make sense to calculate Istha Devata in D9 by counting anti-clockwise? with Rahu we know his motion and Ketu's is backwards through the zodiac, so is there any logic to finding the Istha Devata in this manner? 2. We know that if two planets ( Graha's) are in one sign we take the graha with the higher degree... but does a combination of planets suggest a different deity? that is the combo of Mar's and Venus ? would that suggest a different deity if Mar's being in a higher degree and pointing to Sri Kartikeya? ( Sharavanabhavaya). ! Shanti, Shanti, Shantye Frank in Austin , Fschmidt (AT) Austin (DOT) rr.com
Guest guest
Vyam Vysadevaya Namah ------------------------ Dear Frank, 1. Visti: No, because the Istha isn't based on the 12th from the AK-Graha but the 12th from the Karkamsa. 2. ( Sharavanabhavaya). Visti: Yes a combination of grahas suggests a certain type of energy attributed to the ruling Graha. i.e. take the exceptions of Mercury; If Mercury is in a Movable or Dual sign, then the Istha is Vishnu. The form of Vishnu depends on the dispositor. Unless there are grahas joining/aspecting Mercury, then the form of Vishnu-Avatara is indicated by them. But Mercury is indeed very descriminating, hence it will be the most detailed in its perception of the Istha. In case of Mars you can get away with merely worshipping a fiery deity. In case of Jupiter the person is lucky... god resides everywhere, and in everything.. could be both male and female. Study the rules given by Harihara. Best wishes, Visti. Guest guest
Dear Visti, I followed the method from Sanjay Rath's VRIA of determining ishta devata, which is 12th from karakamsha. This is what you too write. My karakamsha is cancer and I have sun in gemini. The devata for sun is shiva as per Jaimini. VRIA also gives Harihara which states its either Shiva, Kartikeya or Ganapati depending on the drekkana in a dual sign. How do I determine the drekkana? On the other hand I have prayed to Shiva all my life as my ishta devata. So I suppose I should not even be asking this question in the place! Guest guest
Vyam Vysadevaya Namah -------------------- Dear Sarbani, No you shouldn't be asking. The Drekkana, is the D-3, composing of 10 degrees each. The 0-9th degrees, 10-19th and 20-29th degrees. So check Sun in Rasi. If its in a dual sign, see which of the 3 intervals it falls in. Best wishes, Visti. - Sarbani Sarkar sjvc Saturday, April 20, 2002 4:28 PM Re: [sjvc] Istha Devata - a deeper look Dear Visti,I followed the method from Sanjay Rath's VRIA of determining ishtadevata, which is 12th from karakamsha.
