Dear Gurudeva,

 

Please pardon my delay in answering Lesson 4. I have no

reason to offer for the delay, except my Karma, and I was

procrastinating. Your e-mail awakened me. Thanks for the chiding.

 

BTW: Please see if my understanding of the reason for the DEBTs for

the horoscope, in extra exercise you gave for Lesson 4, is correct.

Dasa running is of KETU. Ketu is posited in 12th house, but the Lord

of 12th (house of Losses), Sun is Exalted in 8th (House of DEBTS).

So Ketu will show the effects of his dispositor during his dasa. And

AScendant Lord Mercury debilitated without benefic aspects,

exacerbates the situation. Is this reasoning valid? Please correct me

if I am wrong.

 

Lesson 4:

 

Question 1: Using your Own chart identify the sign each planet is in,

state if the planet is in its own sign, exaltation, detriment or

moolatrikona. List the sign and degree placements of each planet.

CharaKaarakas:

As Saturn is the highest advanced (29Aq32) in Aquarious, he is the

AatmaKaaraka

Mercury, as next highest, is AmatyaKaaraka

Jupiter, next highest, is BratruKaaraka

Venus, next highest, is MaatruKaaraka

Moon, next in line, is PitriKaaraka

Rahu, as next highest(30 – 21:59), is PutraKaaraka

Sun, as next highest, is GnatiKaaraka

Mars, the least advanced, is DaaraKaaraka.

 

Combustion:

Venus conjoins Sun in Scorpio, but on account of Venus not being

retrogade, is not combust

 

Retrogade:

Jupiter is retrogade but exalted in 10th (in cancer). Blemish of

Exalted Functional Malefic maybe reverted due to Retrogade.

Saturn retrogade in 5th house, his Moolatrikona. Delays and denials

in aspects of horoscope he affects.

Mercury Retrogade in Ascendant (As 9th and 12th lord). His

beneficence maybe withdrawn and/or reduced at times due to this.

 

Functional Malefics:

Jupiter (on account of owning 3rd and 6th house).

8th being ascendant Lord also, Venus does not become Functional

Malefic.

12th Lord Mercury being the lord of 9th as well and posited in Lagna,

maynot be considered as Functional Malefic.

 

 

Question 2: Identify from your own chart, at least one character of

each planet from your Rasi and Navamsa and write how does it

influence you during it's dasa or antardasa.

 

Answer:

 

Saturn : Dasa ran from birth upto, I was 11 years old. I wasn't tall

but really thin and week. Subject to all kinds of ailments. Taking

injections everyday for months together. I was put in one of our

relatives place in Chennai to goto English medium school. Very poorly

treated there, and almost most of the time, I was fed with old and

discarded food by that family. While they would eat warm and nice

food. I assume this misery is caused due to Saturn's 10th aspect on

the second house(Early childhood and food) and ascendant lord.

 

Jupiter: Jupiter being the most benefic of all, Kaaraka for Children,

gave me two wonderful kids (twins – a boy and a girl) in 1998. During

his Antara, Mercury Mahadasa. His aspecting 5th house (house for

Children thru Rasi dhrishti), is probably an indicator. But

eventhough delayed (Saturn in 5th). But for some reason, Jupiter's

antara under Mercury was one of THE most horrible times of my life.

Being exalted in 10th, I failed in one subject in my Final year

Engineering. I could not have failed, because I wrote that paper so

well. But Jupiter (Significator for Teaching) did give me a job as

Lecturer in a Polytechnic. Some more bad things happened and I

finally, RanAway (literally) to USA pursuing further studies (Jan 3rd

1992 – End of Jupiter's and beginning of Saturn's antara). I tried to

commit suicide in 1991 Feb/April, and was on drugs prior to that for

months. I am not sure why or how these things happened. But they all

look a distant dream now. A Very regrettable, truly forgettable

dream. Most emotionally imbalanced SELF was what I was, then! Maybe

as I learn more in astrology, I will figure out, Why of all the

planets, Jupiter took me that route!

 

Mercury: Mercury Dasa ran for me since I was 11 upto 28. This dasa

was, thought full ups and downs, on the whole was very favourable. I

completed both Bachelors and Masters (In US) degrees, got married.

Mercury's being the lord of 9th (higher Education) and Kaaraka for

speech /debates etc…I was successful in school and recognized in

school debates (PattiMandapam) etc.

 

Rahu, as he indicates the areas we get caught up in, not knowing

really if we want to be there, is a clear indication in my

relationships, as he is placed in 7th. But I can't really correlate

Rahu's Dasa/Antaras effecting this. It seems like it's always been

there – getting into something without really knowing the depth and

the drowning into it not knowing how to get out of it.

 

Ketu: He wants to hide and he is shy. I am typically very Shy person.

It will take looooooong time for me talk to someone freely. Ketu in

Ascendant probably is what cause this. But once I start talking, then

there I completely confide in him/her – I guess Mercury takes over

from there. Secrets told to me will be kept forever (Ketu –

secretive).

Ketu, being MokshaKaaraka and indicator of spiritual growth, has

blessed me by showing the way to SJVC during his Dasa. He gave me

immense problems in Marital life. Seperation, he caused from my Wife

and Kids.

 

Sun: As he is Egoistic and fierce, conjunct ascendant lord, in the

second house (speech, face and food). I have a decent looking face (I

guess!), My speech sometimes comes out to be very acidic, will sound

non-compromising and very harsh. Even though I don't quite mean it as

it sounds. But that's how it is perceived. I deliver it with a kind

of Authority (Sun) and absoluteness – even if I am not quite sure of

what I am talking about (Venus giving me that false courage??)!

 

Mars: When I get angry, the anger used to completely consume me. And

it used to burn me. Is Mars badly placed in 12th and aflicting Moon

in sizth house (House of Anger), the reason. I know not. But ever

since I started doing Astrology and Meditation (I joined Shri

Yogananda's SRF recently), and started reading BhagawatGeeta (Started

all this in Ketu MahaDasa). I am able to hold my anger much better

now!

 

Moon: She indicates Kapha and Vata (More Kapha than Vata, when more

away from the Sun – My Moon is Sukla Ekadasai Moon, so More Kapha). I

had, what was called a PrimaryComplex (I think it is some kind of TB,

a Phlem disease) when I was very young. Which was one of the reasons

for me being chronic sick child…cold and headache all the time.

Crossing 50kg in a weigh machine used to be my dream until I was

29/30 years old. Once Ketu Dasa started, I started putting on more

weight. Now I look much better with about 146 pounds.
