Saikumar, would you like to take few miniutes away from your birth time ? Try 7.45 AM. Please study your chart bit more harder and reguler praying is must. Both, seek blessing of Sri Ganesha immediately. Regards Karu Jai Jai Sri Jagannath !!! Hare Rama Krishna !!! Dear Supriti, As you and all others have said, when Shani passes through the 1st, 8th and 10th houses from either the Lagna, Arudha Lagna or Moon sign it is called "Kantaka Shani". Why is it that only when Shani transits these three houses does he become "Kantaka Shani" and not so when he passes through the rest? According to the teachings of Maharishi Parasara and Jaimini, the 1st, the 8th and the 10th are the houses of life (jeeva) - the houses of longevity. In so far as fruits of longevity is concerned, the 1st represents Lord Shiva (Surya), the 8th - Lord Brahma (Shani) and 10th - Sri Narayana (Jupiter). This is one of the reasons why Shani in the 8th is considered a naturally good placement. Kantaka means thorn and when Shani becomes "Kantaka Shani" he becomes an iron thorn in the legs affecting the life of the person by causing tourbles in the form of obstacles, delays, denials, frustrations, fruitless labour, disgrace etc. When Shani passes through either of these houses from the point of view of Lagna, AL or Moon sign, the focus or the most identifiable aspect of trouble is the 10th house - the house of karma - by putting thorns in the path of karma. This is caused by Shani's 'kantaka drishti'. Remedies: (a) The first and immediate remedy is worship of Lord Ganesha - the lord of obstacles. A regular prayer to him will certainly ward off all evils and remove the obstacles in the path of one's karma. Worshiping him with the Ganesha Beeja mantra (OM HREEM GAM HREEM MAHAGANAPATHAYE NAMAH SWAHA) is very effective. (b) Regular recital of "SRI RUDRAM" is very effective. Its recital for at least 11 times daily during this period is considered very auspicious and effective. © When Shani passes through the 1st, 8th and 10th houses with reference to Lagna he will affect the self or the Satya peetha. Therefore, prayer to Sri Brahma (Lagna represents Brahma) is good. However, Lord Brahma cannot be prayed as per the curse of Rishi Durvasa. Thus, the recommendation of the Maharishis and the learned people in the case of lagna related problems is a prayer to Sri Surya Narayana, which is done through the Surya Gayatri (TatSavitur Varenyam .............). (d) When Shani passes through the 1st, 8th and 10th houses with reference to AL, he will affect the maya peetha of the person. Therefore, the person must pray to Lord Sri Krishna for protection and blessings as there is no greater mayapati than Sri Krishna (KLEEM GOVALLABHAYA SWAHA). When this happens, all things around us (as Arudha or maya signifies the environment or the surroundings in which we live) goes against us, becomes hostile and creates innumerable hurdles. The ideal mantra will be the Vishnu Gayatri (Tad Vishnum Paramampadam..........) (e) When Shani passes through the 1st, 8th and 10th houses with reference to Moon sign, he will affect the mind or the mental status of the person. Therefore, the person must pray to Lord Shiva to remove the ill effects of Kantaka Shani on the mind (OM NAMAH SHIVAYA or the Shiva Gayatri - Upa Nay Pitava Charah...............) Hope things are clear now. With warm regards, Sarat.
