I'm Mithuna lagna, therefore Guru is a functional malefic. Since he is 2nd bhava, there is no neecha on Kendrahipastya Dosha. I'm currently running Gu mahadasha (Gu-Sa), but since i've entered Gu mahadasha, nothing malefic happened to me (yet), on the contrary: my activity in spirituality enhanced enormously - i've started to study jyotish, to meditate, to do my Sadhana regularly - i met my partner (future husband) who is also very spiritual, my material status also improved a great deal, i got a house i'm currently living in. The situation in my company is not very great, but i don't work extremely hard, nor do i have an extremely bad salary - i do very well with my collegues and associates at work. Do Guru's great avasthas nullify its functional malevolence (uccha in 5 vargas) or is there something else i don't see? I notice much more suffering during Budh bhuktis, and Budh is lagnesh and vargottama. Second thing: my AK is Mangal. Being a natural malefic, he lords 6th and 11th bhava, so he becomes the first grade malefic. Plus he is retrograde in the 4th bhava. During Mangal mahadasha i excelled in school and in sports and in music - practically in everything i did at that time. It is true that at the beginning of Mangal mahadasha my parents divorced (Mangal being in the 4th bhava), but i cannot recollect any bigger evil during that time. I have always been physically healthy, i've never had any bigger injury or accident. Why is that? I wandered whether it is because of Chandra - being in dik bala in 4th bhava and being Mangal's nakshatra dispositor and Guru's bhava dispositor - or because of the 4th lord Budh being lagnesh (yet in 12th bhava)? My AK is also Mangal and it too is in the 12th. In Mangal dasa (at birth) I had a twisted foot, that required surgery to correct and apparently there was some danger of gangrene(aspect of rahu on 12th from 8th?) - the reason for it affecting the body may be the close conjunction between Mangal in the last degree of the 12th and mercury in the 1st degree of the 1st house. However, the foot healed perfectly (I suspect due to the presence of Jupiter in the 12th and the exchange between mangal and 12th ruler venus in the 11th). Jupiter dasa was pretty good for me too, brought me marriage and gave me a number of opportunities, mainly to do with education and a career(10th lord in 12th, in main and sub of Jupiter). And Jupiter is not that well placed in my chart. It did bring about a divorce as well and some health problems(7th ruler in 12th and sub period of 12th ruler venus). In fact the best placement for Mercurial ascendants is Jupiter in the twelfth house, perhaps better than the Mahapurusha Yoga in seventh or tenth house also. I have always betted blindly on such a placement of Jupiter to give best results. Cases: My mother Virgo with Jup in 12; Narasimha Rao (ex PM of India) same Virgo with Jup in 12; Sarat Gemini with Jup in 12 and so many more. reason-Best placement for Badhakesh is the 12th house..
