Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna. Namaste Guruji Solai and members, In sloka 48 of BPHS (pp 38 in GCSharma's translation)it is written that 'of all the planets Saturn is the eldest'. The story of Surya tells us that Saturn is born of Surya and Chaya. Then how come Saturn is the eldest. Obviously I am missing something here. Please clarify this to me. Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Viswanadham and Gurus, Let me give my thinking, Is it something like the fact that 1 day of Devas is 1 year of humans. And Saturn is more tamasic so it has spent more years and hence older?. I am not expressing properly but i hope you get my point. Guest guest
Om namo narayanaya the age of saturn is given as over 70 or more. the order of calculation of naisargika dasas is as chandra 1, mars 2,......... and venus 12-30, jupiter 30-50,and at last saturn is over 80 (am i right? ) this may be one of the reasons for the statement. with regards, shastry
Guest guest
Hare Rama Krishna Dear Sanjay Prbhakaran, Thanks for your reply. Within the 'bhachakra'(extending upto Saturn)Sun is the king. Therefore, the age needs to be reckoned with reference to Sun, I think. That was my original thinking when I asked the question. I do not know if there are any other connotations like 'distance from earth' etc., which will explain the statement in BPHS.
