Guest guest
OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH JAYA JAGANNATHA Namaste Lakshmi, Brilliant correlations. Very good. Keep it up. You have started correlating each and every phrase of spiritual texts with Jyotish learning. This creativity is essential to identify the trillions of events and articles from 12 signs and 9 planets. Saturn cannot be correlated to Vaak. Mercury and Jupiter are OK. Regarding Mohini Avatar, during the churning of Milky Ocean, Lord Vishnu takes many births, including the people churning and fighting the demons. As it is mentioned in BPHS, there are many births of Lord Vishnu, but, as we all know Avatars are only 9 and 10th one is forthcoming. Regarding mole in thigh, let me check Brihat Samhita and come back. My views about Planet Moon and miscellany: For me, "Ksheera sagara madhana" always represented the primordial internal struggle within every human being (essentially pure), between the Good and the Bad, the Suras and Asuras, within us. The unseen Adikoorma supports the fulcrum of our existence (Mt. Meru). Vasuki is the life span itself, quiet sometimes, scary sometimes, weary at other times. After the interminable churning, what comes up first? “Haalahala”, the poison that nobody wants and has everyone stiff scared. Only Maheshwara dares to drink the poison and halts it mid-throat. I feel that haalahala represents “Truth” and it can be faced only by “introspection”(tamas-Easwara). Is there any wonder that Maheswara stopped it at throat, the Vaaksthana, which is again the Visuddhi chakra, ruled by Saturn, a tamasik planet. Sagittarius, as Gurudeva said, is the most truthful sign and the lord of the 2nd house here is Saturn. Truth is a maraka and it can kill and it does kill, but that acceptance & assimilation of Truth and that “cleansing death” is necessary to be reborn, to become eligible for the attainment of “gyana chandra” and “Amrita tattwa” that follow. The prayer “Asatoma Sadgamaya Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya Mrityorma Amritam Gamaya “ precisely reflects this inner struggle, this inner journey that starts from personal “truth” and ends in impersonal greater “Truth”. After coping with “haalahala” there emerge from the Milky ocean Dhanwantari, Kalpavriksha, Kaamadhenu, Iravata , Poorna Chandra, Lakshmi seated on lotus (sahasraara?)and finally Amrita. I find that all these “giving/healing” entities correspond to the powers that automatically accrue to a great mind, that can withstand the rigours of life, unpalatable truths, temptations and continues to churn itself endlessly in the hope of finding that elusive drop of nectar at the end. Such a mind would certainly achieve “amrita” and in the bargain, also attain the “ashta siddhis”(represented by Ashta Lakshmi). All that have emerged after “haalahala” have amrita /stree tattwa- compassion/sustenance (the hallmark of a higher soul) - as a common denominator and hence Moon is described as a “female”, despite having a plethora of wives/extra-marital affairs. This theme of amrita/stree-tattwa is again strengthened by the fact that Maha Vishnu became Mohini- a female to distribute Amrita. You can say that He’d become Venus (lord of Sanjivani vidya/Mrityunjaya Mahamantra) and it also follows that Venus is vested with the discretion to distribute Amrita judiciously to the deserving. Now, how is that Venus is equated only with sensuality/temptation and all things physical/material and not with such celebrated capacity to judge? Since Venus has so much to do with Amrita, it is natural that Soma (Moon-manas) is exalted in the sign of Venus. Coincidentally, Saturn (vaak) is also exalted in another sign of Venus. Venus’s own exaltation point is Pisces, the house of Guru (wisdom) and the naisargika Moksha sthana. Isn’t that Chittasuddhi (manasa-vaacha-karmana)->(Anaahata chakra-Visudhi Chakra-Aagya Chakra) => amrita tattwa? And, Beauty is not inimical to Truth, isn’t Truth Beauty and Beauty Truth? Why isn’t Mohini avatar, despite being a well documented manifestation of Narayana, listed among the dasavatar? Does koorma avatar (largely submerged/supportive) include mohini as a more outward, complementary manifestation to accomplish the same task. There’s a place in Andhra Pradesh, my state, called ‘Ryali”, which has a Jagan Mohini Kesava swamy temple. The legend goes that after Bhasmasura burnt himself up due to the ploy of Mohini to rescue Shiva, Shiva was so smitten by Her beauty/intelligence that he followed Her wherever she went. Ultimately Mohini had to reveal her true self to stop Shiva. In Ryali, Shiva’s temple is exactly opposite to Vishnu’s temple. The idol of the Jagan Mohini Kesava Swamy, shows the process of transformation of Mohini into Maha Vishnu, and is one of the most exquisite idols I have ever seen. The frontal view of the idol is that of the Lord, while the rear portion still shows Mohini. The transformation at the sculpted moment is deemed to be only half-complete, so even the male manifestation still carries the roundedness & lustre of the female form. The priests especially highlight an elliptical wheatish mole / birthmark on the right thigh of the Lord as indicative of “Padmini-jaati stree”, the best among women. How come this indication did not feature in BPHS- section dealing with signs of auspicious women? Any info about where this can be found? Is it something to do with Sanjayji’s statement that sthira Lakshmi-sthan is Sagittarius(thighs)? I would be glad to have your views/amendments on this.
