Guest guest
Dear Guru Solaiji, I was sad after I read your response to Alexandra regarding your outlook for the class. I can't speak for others, but I have benefitted greatly from the lessons and the discussions/writings of the gurus and senior sisyas. I don't take part directly in the discussions because I am unqualified to do so; most of my time is spent absorbing the information coming from the gurus and senior sisyas. I fervently hope you and they continue, and I'm sorry that I haven't expressed my appreciation earlier. Please, please continue the lessons and your discussions for our benefit. This class and the articles/books of the SJVC gurus is my main source for authentic, comprehendible Jyotish. For those without a local guru, this is probably our best and only hope to advance in this sacred science. I recently began teleconferencing with an SJVC Jyotish Guru once a month for one or two hours, but even with that blessing it will be a long time before I have a solid enough foundation to graduate to the Varahamihira class. I know most of us are very busy, but there must be some of us willing to commit the time necessary to learn. This forum provided me with the hope of growing the seed of my knowledge because I can visit with it almost daily. Would the SJVC gurus sanction very nascent beginners' discussions in this class? Something along the lines of simple, step-by-step chart analysis so that we can gain the benefit of repetition in context, offering attempts at interpretation and asking questions about why a certain interpretation was chosen, etc., under the watchful, caring eyes of our gurus? Something like that would give us direction to focus our self-study on, allowing us to delve more into the literature with a reference to start from and the assurance of help. I know Jyotish is much, much more than mechanics, but how can we apply the principles of interpretation and the spiritual/ontological information given in the lessons so far if we don't have a practice field? Perhaps assignments on specific readings in spiritual literature and discussions on them as well? Further assignments on the terminology/etymology of Jyotish? I'm just trying to find a way of rallying the beginning members and keeping us engaged without going against the traditional method of teaching. Some of us can continue individually in our research, but collective focus on a topic and trustworthy feedback/guidance is so necessary to learning. Namaste, Beau ---Original message--- "Solai Kannan" <solai@i...> Sun Dec 23, 2001 1:09 am Lesson 2 OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH JAYA JAGANNATHA Namaste Alexandra, We are not going to remove any member from the list. We are forcing the members to attempt the lessons for the benefit of the members. I am also a student only. But, Gurudeva is spending his most of the time for teaching us. His time will be justified only when more students learn with dedication. There are certain circumstances, which are beyond our control, like what you have mentioned and it is understandable. But, out of the 155 members, only 29 have answered for lesson 3 and it is the 3rd week from the launching of the lesson. Lessons are meant to ignite the fire in the members in learning. Just by looking at the mails, we will never learn astrology. I feel sad that I didn't start to learn Jyotish at very young age. Even if I had started at young age, this birth will not be sufficient to learn even a tiny portion of Jyotish. So, I request others to come out and interact with rest of the members by answering the lessons. Thanks Solai Kannan
