Guest guest
Dear Solai Guru I was trying to go back to basics & read up to understand the basic meanings of relationships between planets. I started reading 3 approaches, in all of which for simplicity, other considerations (ie house placement & lordship being ignored): 1. BPHS: Planets in signs 2. BPHS: Dasa-Antar results for planetary pairs 3. Saravali: Conjunctions of planetary pairs I find that the basic meanings everywhere revolve mainly around a merging of their separate natural significations, which are easy to understand, eg Sn-Ma or Sn in Ma's signs or their mutual dasa-bhuktis being to do with forceful stuff. HOWEVER, in the individual paras in the classics, strangely, I find severe diversions from standard friend-enemy relations, which I would normally expect to have been incorporated in the individual paras relating to each planetary pair. Also, there are MANY MANY other inexplicable facts mentioned, strewn thru'out. There IS something missing in all this, which prevents someone uninitiated trying to draw a method in all this. The other option is to mug all the divergences, which approach, Pt Rath has beat me on the knuckles for, previously. For example Pt Rath mentions Ve (Lakshmi) does well in the Guru Jp's lap (Sg= thighs), not with Ra/ St, which asura-malefics carry her on their heads, & thus, while they gain wealth due to natural friendship, they lose it ultimately. OTOH, in standard classics, these combinations are given as very good for wealth. What I mean is, this is just one instance. There are many many inexplicable statements. Basically, what I am saying is: is it possible to have a detailed lesson on this. I think this is THE fundamental lesson in basic astrology, & most confusions later, START from a wrong undrestanding of this. Note that house-placement & lordship-related interpretations are actually much easier to understand than the above. And after that, is a whole host of techniques & rules & caveats on all types of things in astrology. But this lesson is the ROOT of astrology. I wonder if you could think about a lesson or more on this. Another humble suggestion: as many students in SJVC (unlike varahamihira) are more beginners (OR at least, desire to focus more on the basic fundamentals first): in future lessons, could we all concentrate on the SAME chart, unlike in advanced varahamihira List where each one uses & analyses a different example. Here, I personally feel, it will be easier to fixate (& thus, probe deeper) into a single chart, from each other's interpretations, totruly fixate fundamentals instead of flitting chart paradigms to understand the plethora of factors instead, which IS the rightful focus of the varahamihira List. Due to certain personal reasons, I dont know, starting Feb 2002, whether I will get any time to spend on astrology or these Lists for atleast the first few months, till things settle down. I was wondering if you could even send me any 1/2 baked lesson on all this in advance - as I do have time now (LOTS of it), for the next 2 weeks. Or any hints for me read up & understand this Basic better. Pranams Nandan PS I sent you an updated version of a previously sent document (primer....); it bounced on your address, & the attachment got snipped in the ihb address.
