OHM SHRI RAGAVENDRAYA NAMAH

JAYA JAGANNATHA

Namaste Jyotisha,

I thank Gurudeva and you, one and all, for giving me a wonderful opportunity to

read your answers. It is a great pleasure to read all. All are very nice and

highly advanced answers. In fact we should not call as answers, they are all

fine thoughts of your inner soul. Though, the presentation of all these answers

are different, there is a fine thread of homogeneity runs through them and makes

all put together as a Garland to Lord Jagannatha.

Here are the comments on your answers for lesson 2. In fact I should not

evaluate this. It has to be done by yourself after a gap of few months.

However, I will not go deep into the evaluation and wherever guidance is

required I will comment. Keep these question in mind and whenever your answers

for them changes, write to the list. Some of my comments are meant to provoke

further thoughts and not to be taken as criticism.

What is the reason for asking these questions? In what way it is related to

Jyotish? Understanding of God and relationship with him is my personal matter,

why should I discuss in the list? These are the question some of us might have

asked before start replying.

The answer is: Jyotish is a divine science, without the spiritual assistance, we

cannot excel in the field. Spirituality is required in Jyotish for several

reasons. I will mention 3 important ones. 1. Foresee the future: Though, we

acquire all the knowledge in Jyotish, the power or vision of predicting the

future events is possible only with the help of divine hand from God. 2.

Decision making: Most of the time, people approach Jyotish to help them in

choosing the right decision. Any mistake we, Jyotish, do will cause immense

suffering to the native. All such pava or sin will come on the Jyotish

shoulder. So, we have to ask the God’s assistance to shield us from such

mistakes, all the time. 3.Pride: When our predictions are accurate, Pride will

take control of our mind. That Pride will cause destruction in our personal and

Jyotish life. So, we should have stable & unbiased mind and we must be reminded

of the supremacy of God at all the time. I have seen in my life Jyotishas with

pride only, except Shri AM Rajagopalan and our Gurudeva Shri Pt.Sanjay rath.

The idea of this lesson and questions is to kindle our mind and prepare it for

the spiritual advancement. The spiritual process must grow along side our

Jyotish learning. It is basic and continuous. So that when we reach certain

level of theoretical knowledge in Jyotish, we are also ready in spiritual

plane.

Only a very few had attempted the 5th question. Yet, I am not happy about

silence of other members. I hope they all will share their thought with us

after reading this evaluation. I do not know if every body will read all the

individual comments given below. But, at least read my answer to 41. Govinda

Rao.

1. Frank in Austin:- Gurudeva has already commented.

2. Bimal Kurl :- Answer 2 is not sufficient. Answer 1 needs more thought.

3. Shailesh:- Very good answers. You will definitely see the developments in

your answer after a while.

4. Gopal Krishan Doda:- Excellent. We are talking about the true Jyotish, who is

spiritual in all respect. The idea of this lesson and questions is to mould and

take us to that level on spiritual ground.

5. D.K.Vasudeva rao:- Good.

6. Nandan Chakraborty:- Good.

7. Lakshmi Ramesh:- Good.

8. Jay Weiss:- Good. Answer 2: Yes what you mentioned is our duty. But,

personally what we have done to come closer to God?

9. Majid:- You mentioned “…other means of Remembrance…”

What are these remembrances. Your 4th answer is simple and nice. But, we should

think more. Meanwhile, regarding Sanskrit, I will send a separate mail.

10. Arno Holzman:- Very good answers with nice explanations. I cannot accept the

differentiation in the last line of 3rd answer. We should accommodate all

lineages and we should respect all of them. Mother’s loves towards

children are same in any community. But, the expression of this love is

different for each community. Similarly, expression of understanding is

different for each linage, but the ulterior goal is same in all linage.

11. Ignat Skoryh:- Answer 1:-How far we understand these 3 questions? Answer 2:-

Yes it is a starting point. What is next? Answer 4:- Excellent. Very good

answer.

12. Karthik:- Answer 2:- So, what shall we do get success in the effort?

13. Zeljka:- Excellent and very good answers. I can fully understand how

balanced you are and your emotional feeling towards God.

14. Sanjay Prabhakaran:- Good. You mentioned for Ans 1:- “…I hope it

does not end up as bookish knowledge….” So, what shall we do?

15. Karu:- Your 1st answer, “…When I have faith, He take the form of

Guru and guide me to the ocean of knowledge, when misconduct he punish me by

taking a form of enemy, and rectify my life…” reminded me that the

malefics are for the betterment of the native. Benefics pull us and Malefics

push us. But, all are part of God. Answer 2: Do you feel that you come closer

to God than the previous year?

16. Das Gupta:- Answer 1:- Very nice explanation. Answer 2:- Yes. I agree. We

all know God is very close to us or within us. But, what are we doing to

realize his presence? That is the meaning of that question.

17. Shrini:- You are fortunate to have the Gayatri Manra at Mantralayam. Answer

2:- I appreciate your honesty and at the same time please start something soon.

Your 4th answer is very good except the last line. It is not necessary. Both of

them excel in their field. A Jyotish cannot conduct yagnas or poojas like

Priest. There can be exception, in that case he can be called as Priest cum

Jyotish or Vice Versa. But, in true sense both are entirely different.

18. Chandramukha das:- Good.

19. Vyshakh:- Good. Answer 2. What is your plan to do the purification.

20. Sriram:- Good answers. Keep up your good work on organizing spiritual classes.

21. Vinod Srinivasan:- Good answers.

22. Abhilekh Bhardwaj:- I appreciate your honesty in not ready to quote just

theories. But, it is not acceptable that you have not experienced or not

understood God. There is something missing. You have to think and come back. I

can help you out in this regard. I felt in a similar manner some years back.

But, be serious and think. Regarding Sanskrit, separate mail follows.

23. Arjuna-vallabha das :-Answer 1:- I appreciate your Gurubakthi. But, is it

enough? Why do you suspect, and ask should Krishna have a role in your life?

The question is do you feel that God is having a role in your life or not?

Answer 2:- In what sense? Do you serve your Guru?

24. Karen Skoler :- Very good thoughts. You are the only one who asked about

what is my role to God. Good. About yoga classes be careful. The original yoga

is part of austerity. But, it is taught as kind of exercise.

25. Dilip Banerjee:- Yes. That is the power of Lord Chaitanya and SJVC. If you

have not read all the answers for this lesson, please read them and you can

feel the family atmosphere. It is SJVC kutumbam. My heart is filled with your

struggling and experience process.

26. Vivek Shetty:- My applogize for overlooking your answer. Your quoted stories

are nice. Answer 2: The question is not to be understood like this. As you said,

God is here very nearer to you. But, how do you realize that? What steps we have

taken to come to such realisation is the question? Suppose, if we are in deep

thought we may not realize if someone approach us. Similarly, we are covered by

the umpteen mayas. Breaking this maya and realizing the God is what meant by

closer.

27. dfd gfgsg [ts8166 ] :- Good. Please sign at the end.

28. Atma Prakash:- Very nice replies, especially the 4th Answer.

29. Jagmeet:- Good replies. Answer 2:- What you are referring to the term

“Karma yogi” is not correct. Answer 3. So, the solution lies in the

2nd question. Isn’t it?

30. Darpaha Dasa:- Very good replies.

31. Jeff:- I got your point in your 2nd answer. But, elaborate on this. So that

I can comment and guide you.

32. Supiriti:- Very nice replies. Sufferings are the threshold for God

realisation. Shall we thank him for that or not?

33. Satyanarayana Reddy:- Good answers. What are you going to do to come closer to God?

34. Radhik:- Simple and nice reply.

35. Jennifer:- Good replies.

36. Mohan Hegde:- Very good answers. Answer : Who is reason of your thamasic and

rajasic deeds? Answer 2: Yes. You are right. Closer to god can be internal only.

37. Beau Binder:- Perfect and your 1st answer is very nice.

38. Rajaram pai:- You gave a nice thought into question 3 and I very much like

your interpretation. Answer 4: Some are correct and some are not.

39. Virgilio Victor :- I appreciate your views and our Guru Narasimaha has

explained that Buddha is one of the Vishnu incarnations. Yet, the matter here

is not this issue. The question is about “GOD”. How we perceive is

different. Even if I and my wife worship Lord Vishnu, how do we perceive and

visualize him is purely personal and it is beyond our capacity to express

outwardly. What you mentioned, “…Each individual is responsible for

his or her own emancipation from anguish and suffering…” is true.

39. (a) Dilip Banerjee:- Let the people chose their own path, if they are happy

about that path, it is OK. If they feel that their path will take them to the

God, it is well and good. As long as they are sincere in their objective it is

enough for us.

40. Samir:- Very honest answer for question 1. But, how do you feel about the

existence of God in your day to day life? Question 2: The answer for this

question starts from question 1. So, you must be very clear in that. Think

about 1st question again and come back.

41. Govinda Rao:- Answer 2:- Good. Keep it up. Answer 1&4 needs more thinking.

We need not know about the past births. We are here in this form, after several

processes. Even if we are not accepting the past birth, our genes had passed

through the lives of our forefathers and ancestors. It has passed through

several past births. That is the idea of taking 5th and 9th house as

POORVAPUNYA HOUSES. (Please explain, why?). We need not know such processes.

But, we should know the impact of such processes or karmas, in this life. That

is possible only through Jyotish.

42. David Burrow:- All answers are very good. Simple and to the point, especially the 4th answer.

Thanks

Dear Guru Solai,

Thank you for evaluating my reply and your comments about yoga. I agree that

many practice yoga here in the West as health club exercise devoid of any

spirituality. And I am excited to say that I am working to change that.

My yoga teacher's guru was Swami Kripalanandaji and the style that I am learning

to teach is restoring the original austerity that was lost when Yoga came West.

The style I am learning to teach has been coined "Prana Yoga" because it's goal

is to learn to work with one's prana. For us the postures are to done almost as

meditations with the practice of bija mantra and pranayama practiced while

holding the posture and learning to move one's prana to the higher chakras and

and move prana outward to share with others. If you have any other comments on

how to restore the austerity to yoga, I'd be most interested in hearing.

your sishya,

Karen

Guruji,

Pranamas.

You wrote 36. Mohan Hegde:- Very good answers. Answer : Who is reason of your

Thanks for your encourgements. It is your greatness that you are rating my

immature reply also good. Certainly that generates a lot impetus and zeal to

progress us. But it certainly pains me that I am wasting/eating your valuable

time for no good! Guruji I promise I would be up to your expectations one day.

I do aware that the very devil in me is the only reason for my tamasic and

rajasic deeds. I will fight it out in your guidance to surface with pure

satwikness.

Thanking with kind regards,

Mohan Hegde.

Our actions in previous lives determine our dharma for this birth. So

we look at the dharma trikona. Of these, the 9th and 5th (father and

child) show the cycle of birth. The 9th (father) shows past life and

cause of birth. The 5th (child) shows poorvapunya.

Hare Krishna, Solai.

Thank you very much for take the time

to read and comment the answers.

Here your comment about mine:

23. Arjuna-vallabha das :-Answer 1:-

I appreciate your Gurubakthi. But, is it enough? Why do you suspect, and

ask should Krishna have a role in your life? The question is do you feel

that God is having a role in your life or not? Answer 2:- In what sense?

Do you serve your Guru?

The spiritual live is, obviously, a

changing process. The first time i answer this questions, there were very

long answers. When i read the lesson once again this time, it's very hard

and confussing for me, because it is an impersonalist point of view of

the vedic philosophy.

So, in this moment, say that God have

a rol in my life is like think that He is my servant, and it's not my understanding.

I guess in the future i could see in a right way, but it's not my stage

yet. I don't know really what is God, in the complet meaning of the word,

but the only way to realize It, is true the spiritual master. So, sometimes,

i would like to forget Krishna, and focus just in the service of the spiritual

master. It's what a feel now. Probably is very wrong, but at the same time

is very intimate, and something that i didn't want to express in the answer

to the lesson.

About the second answer, is right,

serving to my dear Srila Gurudeva, following His instructions step

by step. And the first one is to chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna

Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare at least 16

rounds each day.

I pray for the blessing of all the

members, i may follow the footsteps of my spiritual master, who is taking

the shelter of the merciful lotus feet of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila

Prabhupada, the saver of all the fallen souls in the Universe.

Your sisya:

Arjuna-vallabha das.
