Guest guest
OM GURAVE NAMAH!!!! Namaste Solai, Gauranga Das and list members, Here are my answers to lesson 2. Q1. Role of God in my life-- I was born in a Bengali Brahmin family. My maternal grandparents were very traditional and religious. Puja and japa was a regular feature in their house. My paternal grandparents were not so religious. Pujas were a mere ritual in their home. Having seen two perspectives growing up, I felt more drawn to my father's side. I grew up believing in God but not believing in mantras and rituals. Since my father did not believe in the caste system, in 1993 I had an arranged marriage into a non-brahmin family. My in-laws family brought a totally different point of view to me. This confused me so much that this was a turning point for my relationship with God. Since then I have been involved in my own quest and my relationship with God has been evolving. Mantras are a daily part of my life now. I feel God's hand in everything. If I struggle with something, I feel God is putting me through this struggle so that I come out to be a better person. Q2. What you have done in past one year to come closer to God. Ans. The past year has been very hard for me. I have struggled with many issues in my life. I lost my job in June and have been unemployed since. I have been having a hard time in my marriage. With all my problems, I have had a great blessing too, I have been blessed with my daughter. In spite of my own personal struggles I have continued to reach out to people around me who need me. It has been thankful for the blessings I have received and tried my best to learn my lessons from my struggles. Through jyotish (my limited knowledge) I have learnt to surrender to God more than I ever have before. Q3. What statement is more relevant: 'God is all.' 'All is God.' Ans. I feel God is all as all of us are striving to reach HIM and All is God as everything is his SHRISHTI (creation) and his MAYA. Q4. How is the role of a jyotish different from a priest. Ans. I feel the roles of a jyotish and a priest are similar. The role of a jyotish like a priest is to help guide a person's atma towards Moksha.
