Guest guest
Namaste all. I submit my answers to SJVC -LESSON 1. 1-The obliquity of the ecliptic to the equator results in the formation of the Seasons. The Earth rotates on its own axis in 24 hours .Along with this rotation, it also revolves around the sun in one year. The path of the earth around the sun appears to us, from earth, as the Suns´s path around the earth, and is called the ecliptic. The ecliptic, in the apparent east-west direction, does not lie along the equator but is obliquely placed to it at an angle of 23dgr28min. Aryabhatta wrote over fifteen centuries ago: One half of the ecliptic, running from the beginning of the sign Aries to the end of the sign Virgo, lies obliquely inclined(to the equator)northwards. The remaining half(of the ecliptic)running from the beginning of the sign Libra to the end of the sign Pisces, lies(equally inclined to the equator)southwards. This inclination produce different amounts of sunlight and different distribution of the Solar heat on earth. The Sun's yearly motion encompassing Uttarayana(northerly course) and Dhashinayana(southerly course) give us the seasons. 2- This phenomenon is experienced only in the Polar regions(North and South poles), due to the inclined axis of the earth and due to the fact the earth is spherical but flat at the poles. In winter sun never rises and in summer sun never sets. In winter at North Pole , this Pole is tilted away from the sun, and vice versa, South Pole is tilted towards the sun. In Summer in Norther Pole this Pole is tilted toward the sun and vice versa, South Pole is tilted away from the sun. This changes every six months. 3-The luminous bodies that are seen in the heavens, some are called stars(nakshatras), the non-moving ones, and the others are named as planets(grahas), the moving ones. The zodiac, with the nakshatras and rashis fixed upon it, is the path where the grahas pass through . Nakshatras and rashis are the cosmic looms, on witch the grahas weave the tapestry of your life from the yarn of your karma. These interaction can suggest to the jyotishi what advantage or disadvantage will be available to an individual in the various arenas of life. 4-The details of my chart are : DOB- 27 /07/1947 - TOB- 7:00 AM (summer time - subtract 1 hour) - POB-Lisbon - Portugal.
