Guest guest
Namaste Solaiji Here is my attempt at Lesson 1 1. Explain the Changing of the seasons.... Since the earth's equator is inclined at 23.5 degrees to the Earth's orbit the northern and southern hemispheres of the earth receive different amounts of sunlight as the earth orbits the sun. This gives us the seasons. (Kopernicki) The cause of the seasons is that the plane of the earths orbit around the sun is inclined to the plane of the equator. This means that the direction of the suns rays relative to the ground and the number of daylight hours change during the year and hence the amount of sloar energy received at different latitudes changes during the year (Astronomy.com) 2. Days when sun does not rise or set in different parts of the globe... explain In Polar regions there are effectively only 2 seasons - winter when the sun never rises and summer when it never sets. This is because of the angle of the earths axis. Winter in Northern Hemis and summer in southern hemis - North Pole is tilted away from the sun, South Pole is tilted towards the sun. Summer in Norther hemis and winter in southern hemis - North Pole is tilted toward the sun and South Pole is tilted away from the sun. 3. Moving and Non Moving Bodies. Moving Bodies are the Planets Grahas. Non Moving are the Stars Nakshatras. Nakshatras provide the backdrop or framework for the planets to move around in eg. The provide 27 stations for the cycle of the Moon. They are used for naming, matching couples for marriage, Dasas etc. Planets represent humans that play a role in one's life and Vishnu's incarnations. Rasis are situations and the whole Zodiac is Lord Vishnu. Movement and placement of planets ahve more direct influence on us as they are closer than stars. Planets give results in combination with Dasas. 4. My chart has Mo & Ju (12) and Ra (7) above the horizon - visible and Ke (1), Ma & Ve (2), Su & Me (3), Sa (4) below the horizon - invisible. Sun is in Dakshinayana. Thank you for your patience. I am sorry my homework is late. Alexandra
