Dear Gauranga Prabhu,

Namaste.

Here are my answers on the lesson 1:

1:

The changing of seasons occurs because of yearly motion of the Sun. Sun moves

half a year in the northern hemisphere and half a year in the southern

hemisphere. During this movement Sun is changing his position in regard to

distance from celestial equator. Due to this movement and changing of Sun's

declination changing of seasons in the Earth takes place. When the Sun is in

the most distant point from the celestial equator in the southern hemisphere

this is winter solstice and on the northern hemisphere we can experience

winter. Similarly; in the time of summer solstice we can experience the season

of summer.

2:

Phenomenon of the "polar day" and "polar night" also occur due to yearly motion

of the Sun. For example; when Sun moves towards the southest point of his

trajectory his rays are unable to reach the regions of the Earth in far north.

So, in the north we can experience that Sun do not rise every day as can be

perceived in the parts of Earth which are closer to the equator. In the same

time in the regions in the south of the Earth apparently Sun does not set down.

3:

Moving bodies are grahas or planets; Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus,

Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. We can include also upagrahas in this category. Non

moving heavenly bodies are fixed stars called nakshatras. Fixed stars form a

"zodiac" or belt around the Earth which is non moving. Zodiac is like a

"background" in front of which planets are moving. If we look from the Earth

the moving of the planets in the sky we can calculate exact position of each

planet in the zodiac in degrees. Thus, by position of the planets and other

points in the zodiac we can give astrological interpretation of various

details.

4:

My chart is attached.

I am born in Croatia, town called Pula; distance from Greenwich is 13 degrees and 52 minutes eastern

and distance from the equator is 44 degree and 50 minutes north. Eastern horizon

at that place and at the time of my birth was on the 326 degree from the

beginning of the zodiac ( nakshatra Purva Bhadrapad and sign Aquarius). Sun was

traveling from the point of summer solstice (northest part of his path) toward

the equator, so the season was summer. In the time and place of my birth Sun

was under the horizon (in the sign of Cancer) and that is Uttara ayana (from 0

degree Aquarius to 30 degree Cancer). Other planets in Uttara ayana are; Rahu,

Saturn, Venus and Mercury. Planets in Dakshina ayana are Jupiter, Ketu, Mars

and Moon. Above horizon are Sun, Rahu, Saturn, Venus and Mercury and under the

horizon are Jupiter, Ketu, Mars and Moon.

Dear Gauranga Prabhu, thank you for the lesson,

yours in the service of Krishna,

Darpaha Dasa
