Vimsa means twenty (trimsa means thirty, chatvarimsa means forty and

so on). Uttara means after. Vimsa+Uttara is Vimsottara and it

means "twenty after".

Vimsottara sahasra means "20 after 1000", i.e. 1020. Vimsottara

dwisata means "20 after 200", i.e. 220. If we don't specify the

latter part (20 after what?), then the default is 100.

So "vimsottara" defaults to "vimsottara sata" or "20 after 100", i.e.

120. Vimsottari means "one that has 120". Similarly "ashtottara"

defaults "ashottara sata" and means "8 after 100", i.e. 108.

Namaste,

Yes, is Vimshottari per Parashara 120 years + 5 days?

I never got the 5add'l days part... any insight on this?
