JHLite 4.1 and KCD calcs

Namaste!

Thanks for the wonderful software and "free" at that! I was wondering

about the KCD calculations. In the previous version 3.0 you did not use the

full Moon accuracy or something and the dashas were a little off??? Then you

provided the short KCD calcs program which gave for more accuracy and the

deha etc. Is the KCD as accurate as it seems to be just the same KCD as 3.0

without the accuracy of the KCD calc program. Not that a few days makes a

lot of difference except when doing some more precise targetting of dates.

It normally takes me a few months to get all the juice out of an orange such

as this. In this case a lot of the presentation is so well done as to get

more faster etc. What price were you contemplating for the Commercial

version?

Dear Majid/Kevin,

For a particular chart, there may not be much difference between 4.1

and 3.0. But try tens of charts and you will see the difference.

JHL 3.0 had precision in arc-seconds for non-Moon planets, but Moon's

longitude could be wrong by a couple of arc-minutes!

JHL 4.1 has a precision of the order of 0.01 arc-seconds for non-Moon

planets and the error in Moon is within 1-2 arc-seconds. That's way

better than JHL 3.0. This improvement by a factor of 100 makes a huge

difference in the lagna of Tajaka annual charts too!

JHL 4.1 still uses an analytical model. So Kalachakra dasa could

still have an error of a few days.

Commercial version will use an ephemeris and will be even more

accurate and faster too.

You asked what price I am contemplating. Well, I am not contemplating

anything. I want to separate money for my astrological activities. I

will hand over the software to SJVC towards the end of this year and

SJVC will decide how much to charge. I only hope they don't charge

too little to hurt the businesses of competitors or too much to put

burden on astrologers and students who are not well off. The main

goal of this program (on which I had to burn midnight oil on many

days) was to help the Jyotish community in the pursuit of true

knowledge. But it has to be done without hurting vendors.

May Jupiter's light shine on us,

Narasimha

Namaste! Thanks for your detailed reply. I also send you kudos on the long

task of programming (I tried it many times a few years back but got too

frustrated) such a nice piece of software. I also like the idea that you are

hoping to keep a happy medium in price. It certaintly helps me to us this

software and I am sure the rest of the community will feel the same. God

Willing I will be able to afford the commercial version.
