| To answer your question: yes, absolutely. If you read my mail on Mani's

chart,

| you would notice that I listed the matters for which Venus *dasa* would be

| favorable and the matters for which Venus *antardasa* would be favorable.

| was looking at divisional charts there.

|

| Varga charts are an absolutely basic concept. Signs, planets, houses and

| divisional charts are the four pillars of Vedic astrology. The above

principle

| applies in divisional charts also.

|

| EXAMPLE:

|

| Sri K.N. Rao's birthdata given in a book is: 12th Oct 1931, 7:15:22 am

(IST,

| 5:30 east), 81e12, 16n13 (we were born in the same town).

|

| During Mercury dasa, he made name as an astrologer. He became popular in a

| field of higher knowledge. For learning, knowledge and intellectual

| activities, we should see D-24 (as per Parasara). In D-24, lagna is in

| Capricorn. Mercury owns 6th (malefic) and 9th (benefic) and occupies 11th.

He

| is a neutral planet (6th and 9th). Why did Mercury's dasa give him so many

| activities and excellent reputation? Can we explain it using D-24 and not

| going to rasi chart?

|

| Is lagna in D-24 wrong? Probably not. Jupiter in 2nd with 8th lord (in

Aq!)

| shows a research-oriented astrologer. Based on what I've seen, Saturn and

Mars

| in 3rd beautifully fits too. I think the time rectified by Sri Rao is

correct,

| atleast as far lagna in D-24 is concerned.

| Then why was neutral planet Mercury's dasa so good?

|

| The answer is: Use Sanjay's "Sun-Moon-Lagna tripod" principle. For

mahadasas,

| the reference of Sun dominates. Sun is in Aq in this D-24. To judge

Mercury

| dasa for matters of knowledge and learning, take Sun as a reference.

Mercury

| now owns 5th (benefic house) and 8th (neutral house, strictly following

| Parasara) and overall he is a benefic. Not only is he a functional

benefic,

| but he occupies 10th (karma/action; movement and deeds in society). Being

the

| 5th lord in 10th, he made Sri Rao use his knowledge to perform good deeds

in

| society (10th) and earn fame (5th). Because D-24 is the chart of

knowledge,

| these actions and fame were related to a field of higher knowledge.

|

| The above logic explains known facts without any stretching and twisting

of

| principles, don't you think?

|

| Try this principle yourself. Remember to use strict Parasari principles

for

| the functional nature of planets. V.K.Choudhry saheb says that 8th is a

| malefic house and 3rd and 11th are not. Different people have different

| theories, but they had to come up with these theories because they

| misunderstood Parasara. These theories will fade away in time. Parasara

will

| be remembered forever.

|

| Parasara is absolutely correct, when one understands correctly. Don't

change

| what Parasara said. If you unlearnt some strict Parasari principles due to

| some other learning you did (Brendan, "you" here stands for the average

| reader, not *you*), you should relearn Parasari principles.

|
