Your observations about the direct and reverse counting are correct.

Remember to consider Abhijit for this purpose as well i.e. we have 28

Constellations and not 27 in Vedic Astrology. Abhijit is an inter-calary

constellation and is the seat of Narayana (Direction in which the entire solar

system is precessing). Hence it is called Hari-Kule-Sa (belonging to the

lineage of Hari and referring to Sri Krishna). The Greeks later called this

Hercules.

There is a definite reason for this direct and reverse counting. The Natural

Benefics like Moon, Mercury, Jupiter & Venus are always reckoned in the directly

and hence their counting of "LATHA" ( Latha literally meand KICK and when a

Planet decides to kick a person, the experience cannot be said to be

good..unless one has got used to the kicking!!! LIKE the Mujaheddin who have

got used to the LATHA from India). The counting of LATHA of NATURAL MALEFICS is

in the reverse to their natural motion. Thus, the LATHA of the Sun, Mars and

Saturn are in the reverse while that of Rahu (Who is always retrograde is in

the reverse to this retrogression) is Direct. Now it will be easier to

understand and remember Latha.

My notes on Narayana Dasa should be adequate. Chara Dasa will not apply to

your chart.

Namaste Sanjay-I have 3 questions I would like to pose to you if I may....1.

Latha ( Pg 12) a. Latha i can assume from your writings is an

unfavorable (sensitive) position for Chandra to transit and influences

the signification of the Graha. - Can you give me a definition of Latha

or an equivalant? b. Calculations - I see some calcs are forward from

various Grahas and and some are counter (anti) clockwise... I am having

some difficulty figuring out the direction for ea: Can you advise if my

list below is accurate? Surya 12 Nakshatra's reverse ( including

the Nakshatra Surya occupies i.e. if Surya is in Magha

I start there with count 1, NOT in Purva Phalguni for count

1, that would yield Uttarabhadra as Latha for Surya? Mangal 3

Nak. in reverse Chandra 22nd Nak. forword ( clockwise) Guru

6th Foward or Rev? (F/R) Budha 7th F/R? Rahu

9th F/R? Sukla 5th F/R? Sani 8th Reverse2.

Narayan Dasa Three types of dasas for: a. Movable b. Fixed

c. Dual or commonQuestion- their Dasa Names? a. Movable: Chara

dasaDoes Kalachakra Dasa play a role here as a Graha dasa system? 3. Sri

Shakti and Vishnu - ( info from some notes you send me on Rasi Dasa)a. Shakti

is asertained from second house lord - my chart that = Dhanu ( Sagittarius) and

therefore Guru.b. Vishnu - second house and lord too? i.e. is Vishnu calc'ed

from the same location? if so;c. As 7/17/99 starts, a new Chara dasa cycle

starts for me - Sag-Scorpio-Libra cycle andthat Sag ( if a and b above is

correct) is Sri Shatki/Vishnu we have the following:Scoprio is Lagna Rasi and

is Lagna for Varshapahl for '99 AND Muntha is Libra so;How is Vishnu and

Shakti enlivened by this.. this is an interesting confluence of events -

withGuru aspecting Scorpio ( Rasi Dristi) - is Vishnu/Shakti then aspecting
