Original Article: /list/sjvc/?start=219 > > Dear Sanjay, > > Is there a classical refference or authority that can confirm the use of > > arudhas/padas in nacamsha and other varga kundhalies, Zoran, Parasara never really said "whatever I am going to say now will apply only to rasi chart". Because he defined many charts at the very beginning of BPHS and listed the matters to be seen from each chart, it is logicalto think that everything in the rest of BPHS applies to all vargas. However, it is true that Parasara didn't *explicitly* mention arudha padas in divisional charts. > > Love and peace, > > Zoran > Jaya Jagannath > Dear Zoran, > No, there is no authority/ direct reference for using the Arudha > Pada in the Varga. Dear Sanjay, I beg to differ. Using the 10th and 5th houses from ghati lagna or 2nd and 11th houses from hora lagna is NOT a "deviation". After defining these special lagnas in chapter 5 of BPHS, Parasara clearly said: kramaadeshaam cha lagnaanaam bhaava koshtham prithak likhet | ye grahaa yatra bhe tatra te sthaapyaa raasilagnavat || 5-9 This means "taking planets in the same signs, find houses from these respective lagnas again (bhava, hora, ghati lagnas)." There is absolutely no ambiguity here. (In addition, the very fact that these names contain "lagna" means that houses can be counted from them. Otherwise ghatika lagna would've been called "ghatika sphuta" - a la mrityu sphuta and trisphuta - or "ghatika saham" - a la mrityu saham and rajya saham.) So I respectfully, but strongly, disagree with your assertion that "This is not as per the prescription of the sages who have advised us to study the Gl & HL on the basis of the planetary aspects on them." Parasara DID grant permission to take houses from BL, HL & GL and analyze the bhava chakra, just as in the case of normal lagna. As an example, exalted Jupiter and Venus in GL (lagna to be used to see fame, power and authority) in your D-10 made you a famous scholar and astrologer. Mercury's ownership of 3rd house from GL in both D-10 (deeds in society) and D-24 (learning and knowledge) is making you a famous author (you are running Mercury dasa). > Best Wishes, > Sanjay Rath Your sishya, Narasimha ------ eGroup home: http://www.eGroups.comsjvc http://www.eGroups.com - Simplifying group communications
