mathematical methods of vedic astrology ???

Greetings All,

 

I have been wondering about the mathematical methods used to calculate

planetary positions etc by various softwares. Most softwares seem to

use the algorithms from "Astronomical Algorithms" by Jean Meeus.

 

But I wonder what sort of mathematics is used to do it in (for

inability to find better words) traditional vedic astrology. Are such

methods available today for learning?

 

If the knowledgeable can throw some light on this issue, I would really

appreciate it.
