Guest guest
The diversity on our planet and among all life forms is awe- inspiring, but there is also a big difference between acknowledging and respecting our diversity versus using it to isolate and alienate us. Some of the nationalistic points of view that are being set forth on this list lead to further separation, and "us versus them" quickly leads to "superior versus inferior," which can further disintegrate into abusive situations. National pride is obviously very important to certain individuals who post on this list, and I understand that it often manifests as a reaction to oppression. Nonetheless, you should tread cautiously...this is the sort of formatory thinking that aggrandizes the negative power and leads to political fanaticism, such as we saw in Hitler's Third Reich and Nazi Germany and more recently in the Middle East conflict. It becomes easy to mistreat anyone whom we FEAR is different from us—-because ultimately, according to this line of thinking, someone who is different or inferior to us probably isn't valuable or worthy of humane treatment. I continue to offer love and peace to all my sisters and brothers out there, irregardless of race, creed or national and political affiliation...
