Guest guest
Dear sri Sanjay P Namskar "Mukunda Daivangya” father of Sri Balavadra who wrote Hora Ratnam which is the subject of our discussion is different from Mukunda Daivangya author of Nastajaatakam etc. as mentioned by you. The latter one is more completely known as Achaarya Mukunda Daivangya Parvatiya. He is a man of present century ( 20th) and was born in Deva Prayag of North India. His works include Nastajaatakam, Bhavamanjari,Ayurnirnaya, Parasava Chitamani and Astakavarga. I have studied Astakavarga in detail and I must admit like the ancient Sanskrit Yotish classics it is no way inferior .All most all his works are in Sanskrit and seem to be a continuation of the same tradition which flows from Parashara, Varhamahira, Kalyan Verma and Balabhadra with a number of special points not found in earlier works . The other Mukunda who was the father of Balabhadra , author of Hora Sara is an ancient one. The Europeans have dated the period of Hora Sara as 16th century AD. I do not know if this ancient Mukunda had any known work to his credit or not. Here I may point out one thing , though not very pertinent to our discussion, the word Jyotishi and Daivangya are not same. The former denotes a person who is well versed in the Saastara of Astrology. The latter is some one who along with the former qualification has also the power of intuition which enables him to look into the 4th dimension and have the vision of future. While all Daivangyas ( real ones) are Jyotishis , all Jyotishis are not necessarily Daivangyas. Mantra siddhi in some form or other seems to be essential to become a Daivagya. BS Rao, BV Raman, Cheiro –the famous palmist of Europe , Krishnamurty ( who propounded- the so called- kp system) of our present age. All had some or other from of Mantra Siddhi. Sincerely Gurudatta Dash Namakar ----- > Daivangya(Author of "Nasta Jataka" etc)> was till 1960's around, dint He also write a book sponsored by Indian> Govt?.
