Guest guest
Dear John and all, Just for the sake of knowledge: Suppose, at the beginning of any given day, the moon is in the first degree in a given sign. Rest other planets are placed in degrees above 15 in different signs. In the the next 24 hrs, there are very high chances that the people born in the twelve ascendents will have the same planets as atmakarak, pitrukarak, darakarak, etc. In such a case, all the people born within that 24 hrs still have the same rajyoga by karaks, irrespective of their functional malficience or beneficience and their lordships over different houses. Whereas, the ascendent specific rajyogas will be different for each ascendent. The Karak theory is as impractical and as a generalization of astrological rules, as the moon-based predictions or the guna-matching system. It is a pity that vedic astrologers in west are putting over-emphasis on Karaks and not paying attention to the actual yogas in the horoscopes. This is a result of the short-cut methods of teaching adopted by some "famous" Indian teachers who have been teaching VA in the west. The astrology as practised in India, is very different and more practical. But, the best books are available only in vernacular languages or in Hindi. The west may think that it has taken a big jump, but it has seen only what it has been shown by some handfull of astrologers who write and teach in English. One should not stop using one's own logic and should not come at a conclusion just because some famous person says so. The human mind tends to seek set rules and short-cut methods. One should curb this tendency to excel in the field of astrology. The atmakaraka and and pitrukaraka in conjunction or aspecting (rashi drishti) each other.2. The first and 5th lords in conjunction or aspecting each other. If these occur in the 1st and second house, then the rajah yoga will take effect in a foreign land and later in life.If these yogas occur in the 2nd and 4th houses, then the rajah yogas take effect easily and early in life.Depending on the jyotish tradition one follows, Rahu can be included as one of the karakas for analysis.Regards,John R.: For software visit:
Guest guest
Namaste Ashutosh and all: I realize the limitations of Jaimini's system as you have pointed. However, I am not denying the use of Parasara's rules either. As KN Rao has suggested many years ago, we should try to incorporate a composite method of analysis using both systems to come with the best prediction. As suggested by Hart DeFouw, I'm also trying to use the nakshatras to come up with some extra dimension to the analysis based on Parasara rules. There is no doubt that judgement through reasoning is a must to be successful as an astrologer. Nonetheless, an astrologer should use all of the available jyotish methods as tools for coming up with the right answer. For the time being, I have not been able to use the Krisnamurthi Paddhati method as the rules are slightly different and complicated.
