Guest guest
This world is not our eternal home. Rather, the bodies we have decay. Nothing here is permanent, even the great Rome is gone. So too the forces, like Jupiter, they are impermanent forces, thus they have the flaws of duality found in everything here. When Patrick defied the Druids on Bealtaine night, the date is known, and on that date you find strong and noble Jupiter. This benefited him, who was aligned with strong and noble religious ideals and churches on the mainland. But what if the people you seek to convert are not of that, but of another thing, another of the impermanent forces or nature parts of this realm? All planets are enslavers, and all planets have faults. All forces contain bood and gad elements. If it wasn’t for those monks, the history would have never been written, and I could not study it, in my dictionary of Celtic history/mythology. But, if it wasn’t for those monks, the whole thing might still be a living culture. Culture names things, but the things remain as one. One culture calls it Saturn, another Sani, but the thing is one. We are one in the things we are “inside”. We are one in the things we actually have to deal with. The benefit of global economy, a shallow glittering benefit, draws all into the same language and customs- to do business, to get cheap goods, to have that glitter that seems enjoyable. The old cultures are killed for glitter. Everyone learns English and drops their cultures to get the eye liner, the tv set, the digital camera, the air ride to here and there... Eventually we’ll realize the folly of it all, and seek meaning, looking back to old cultures for that meaning, hoping to find it safe with our ancestors in the dirt, or in their writings, or in our memories of them and their times. I am in touch with my ancestors. I have bore the crying to know them. I have bore their stories to hear them. I have invited them back into my heart to have them. To do this I had to know their lives, which are mostly pain, as most seem to be. But now I walk with them inside me always. There is nothing special about so called St. Patrick, except he was like so many monks of so many races and ages. Men who have some passive aggressive pity on a simple culture, go there and change it by causing it to doubt itself and teaching it a new way. This mood grows to even centuries later the people themselves are beating each other for any trace of the “old culture” they cherish in themselves. I am Irish Catholic by birth, and one of eleven neglected children. I am born of Patrick’s gifts- stupidity like disdain for birth control, stupidity like “Praying to Jesus” and other Saints for actual things in life. Just plain ol stupidity. Now that I am able to, I believe as I want to, and it’s certainly not that way. I can’t imagine considering Christian thought to be “theology”. I can’t believe my people’s ancient Kings and Queens didn’t banish these missionaries at the cost of soldiers lives. Well now we can turn it around. As we realize the forces of things like the atom, astrology, all the types of waves and awarenesses and interconnectedness of all things in all spheres, the whole silly Moses and Jesus and Mohamed kind of thinking can just go away as it should. If Patrick drove the snakes from Ireland, well I’m one, popping up over here, still able to speak, and still not into accepting somebody from the south somewhere as “my savior”. Guest guest
Hello, I kind of don't know all of this or the other exchange, but feel I have to say directly that I love Das's writings and enjoy his sort of "outsider- coming -out- from -being- on- the- inside" perspective on things. Irreverence, so called, oftentimes comes from the deepest reverence for all. It is also often misinterpreted, in my opinion. Thanks for being like a folk hero to me. Maybe folk songs will follow?
