Does anyone know if there is there a "birth chart" anywhere for the Space Shuttle Discovery? How would we determine this...the first time it was unveiled, or the first time launched? Or the moment they began working on it, but we would probably not have any good luck finding that time. Dear Juliana, Janna and members, There are a number of times that can be used here--although I can't say if all yield results. Here is a good site for the history of the Discovery from the date the contract was awarded, through various design modifications and finally the first launch. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/shuttleoperations/orbiters/discovery-info.html .. I usually take the first launch of the particular shuttle as it's 'birth' chart. For the Discovery this would have been: August 30, 1984 @ 8:41:50 AM EDT in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Yearly charts to this 'natus', along with various transits and progressions can often yield good results. Another very useful chart is the first launch of the shuttle Columbia series, which was the first of all shuttle launches and therefore a good chart to judge any future shuttle mission. This time was: April 12, 1981 @ 7:00:03 AM EST in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Solar Return for the above chart that occurred on April 12, 1985 shows Mars/Rahu rising in late Aries, with Saturn close by opposition near the 7th cusp at 3 Scorpio. This return was an indicator of the destruction to come later in the year for the shuttle Challenger that exploded on January 28, 1986. Again the SR for April of 2002 (preceeding the Columbia disaster) has Mars/Saturn/Node occupying the 10th house of the chart, with Nodes very close to the MC/IC axis(along with Pluto). More on this later.... Best wishes, Steve
