Guest guest
Dear Rick, Thanks for this post. Made me realize how charity (Ju?), debt (Sa, Ma, 6th), theft (stealing the nectar) and poverty (Sa) can sometimes be seen as interrelated, or closer knit in the karmic matrix than I feel comfortable to admit. This is all said with the spirit of ultimate forebearance -- I am not accusing anyone of anything here, just trying to riff off the post and think out loud, astrologically. When I am going through tough times, I often turn to Vedic Astrology and my natal chart for insight. Perhaps this can be seen as "pathological" or "compulsive" -- Rahu in 1st, Ret. Sa in 8th -- or some form of spiritual materialism (like my synastry request) but we are living in a psychological, material world. And lately for myself that has come down to living with debt. Rather than go with the "woe- is- me or "woe- is- the- system" approach, I try to see what are my patterns. What am I denying? What card am I playing too often? Where do I surrender? Where do I put in more hustle (in the effort, not the swindling, sense) Is this a valid use of the chart? For transformation, as some modern Astrologers hold, or just for timing our come-uppance? A Vedic Astrology web site by Barbara Pijan Lama has a good take on the potential karmic meaning of debt and bankruptcy, issues ruled by the 6th and 8th house. I appreciate her writing as she seems to be able to communicate the science from a western perspective. Something you do well. http://www.bena.com/sherpa1/bpa/Topics/debt_handling.htm One of my main reactions to my situation is to get overwhelmed, and indulge in what is perhaps a Mars-like, all- or- nothing approach. I can't beat it all at once and vanquish it with finality, so I let it suck me dry, slowly (Sa in the 8th?). But it feels good for someone with Rahu in lagna aspecting Ju early in Pisces in 5th with Venus to spend and enjoy luxuries with "OPM,other peoples money" (quote from Das's old writings). Having Ju and Ve in the 5th house aspect by Rahu in 1st and Mo in 11th I sometimes spend with a big smile on my face, and am generous without the Big- kid, Saturnine calculations that are perhaps necessary to give the gestures weight and merit. It doesn't feel good with Sa in the 8th to impose retrictions on myself. Have I earned these enjoyments that I bestow on myself and others? Can we use our chart to analyze our own patterns? Or better, can we ever even resist looking under our own hoods? Could Rahu have stopped himself from cutting in line? Could Prometheus have not stolen fire? Thanks for your attention, Namaste.
