You've asked a very good question. We have to answer this question

with a practical mind set, i.e., taking the path of least

resistance. Specifically, the easiest interpretation would be the

location indicated from your present residence.

 

The more difficult interpretation would be the location indicated

from your birth place. If one is living in an adopted country, like

I am here in the USA, it would not be likely for one to find a spouse

by using the birthplace as the reference point. To achieve results,

one would have to move back to the birthplace, temporarily or

otherwise, to find the ideal spouse.

 

Given the worldwide capability of internet dating searches these

days, however, we should not rule out the possibility of finding a

spouse from the location indicated with reference to one's birth

place even if one is in a foreign land. For example, one of the

jyotish forum members informed me about two years ago that he married

a woman whom he corresponded with on the internet. At the time, he

was working in the USA and went back to India to marry the woman.

 

So, the answer is tiered as shown in the scenarios given above.
