Guest guest
Steve, Juliana and all: It seems the shuttle launch will occur July 26 at 10 AM EST at approximately 20* Pisces Moon, so if on time will be outside the kala sarpa yoga by perhaps 2 degrees. Guest guest
Hi Janna and all... I saw on the news that the time scheduled is for 10:39 AM tomorrow which gives a Kanya Lagna close to the one in the chart for the first Discovery shuttle launch that Steve gave us for 8/30/1984 at 8:41 Cape Canaveral, FL. This lagna is sandhi though...which makes me wonder if weather or the fuel pump problem may delay it again. valist, "Janna Lynn" <jnanalynn> wrote: > Steve, Juliana and all: > > It seems the shuttle launch will occur July 26 at 10 AM EST at approximately > 20* Pisces Moon, so if on time will be outside the kala sarpa yoga by perhaps > 2 degrees. > > Janna > > > > valist, "Juliana Swanson" <omhamsa> wrote: > > Hi Steve, Janna, and all...Re taking "the first launch of the > > particular shuttle as it's 'birth' chart. This lagna is sandhi > though...which makes me wonder if weather or the fuel pump problem > may delay it again. > > --- Hi Juliana and Janna, Yes, 10:39 AM is the correct time. I've just heard an update from NASA on this--there's a 40% chance the mission will be scrubbed because of weather conditions. If there is anything like small raindrops falling tomorrow at launch time the flight will be cancelled. Rain acts like BB pellets on the tiles of the Discovery. They're still looking at the fuel gauge malfunction and have not been able to repeat the trouble and thus track it down. If it doesn't show up again, and the weather conditions cooperate, then it will go as planned. There is some talk that they may go ahead with the launch even if the fuel pump problem reappears. The full Moon chart of July 21st, set for Cape Canaveral, brings up 8 Cancer rising (Lahiri), while 1 Aries culminates at the MC. Thus the Sun/Saturn/Moon/Mars appear very close to angles. On July 31st, Mars and Saturn are exactly impacting the degree of the lagna (8 Cancer). Mars here at 8 Aries and Saturn at 8 Cancer. Collins, the commander of the crew, was born November 19, 1956 in Elmira, NY (no time). She has 4 planets in early Scorpio and thus the transiting Mars in Aries will be throwing it's 8th house aspect to these natal planets. These planets will be variously hit as Mars moves throughout the planned 10 day trip (should it go off on schedule). Her natal Mercury is at 8 Scorpio. These connections can bring about accidents, mechanical failures, annoyances and bad judgment. James Kelly, the pilot of the mission, was born May 14, 1964 in Burlington, Iowa (no time). He has 4 planets in Aries. His natal Mercury/Mars will be aspected by both the transiting Saturn and Mars and may bring about similar troubles. His natal Mercury is at 8 Aries. If the liftoff goes as planned, then I would expect some troubles in the mission around July 31st Best, Steve
Guest guest
Dear Steve and Juliana, You both make suggestive arguments for the mission to not go as planned. >From another perspective, the 2005 Inauguration chart would also support difficulties with transport generally, although this may affect more earthly transportation systems. Mars at 5 Aries is still dangerously close to 12th house Rahu right now and is also therefore making an exact (by degree) partial strength 10th house aspect to the natal 10th house Sun. Interestingly, it comes exact right around the time you've indicated on July 30. Moreover, Mercury at 10N56 is currently activiating by declination the Inauguration Uranus at 10S26 and Rahu at 10N30. More than likely this event in the coming days will be the one that so many astrologers, including me, have been grimly calculating for a while now. Guest guest
Hi Chris, It's always difficult to pick out mundane events with certainty. The timing of the shuttle launch under a Rx Mercury and an upcoming a Mars/Saturn configuration will certainly be interesting to watch however. As Juliana has already pointed out, the launch occurred with a sandhi lagna and lord Mercury in Rx motion and moving toward an opposition with Neptune. If we were to use the Fagan ayanamsa, then 29 Leo rises, placing lagna lord Sun with Saturn in the 12th house receiving the close square of Mars. So neither one of these scenarios looks very good. If we look at the yearly chart or Solar Return of the first Discovery launch in 1984, then Ketu rises close to Ascendant degree, while Neptune aniti-culminates or sits at the IC or 4th cusp of the chart. If a client came with a similar chart and was suffering from some disease, I would tell him that his malady would be hard to diagnose or he would be subject to mis-diagnosis. This would also concur with the Mercury/Neptune combination mentioned by Juliana. We have aleady seen this to be the case with the faulty fuel gauge (Mercury=gauge, Neptune=fuel) problem that seemed to vanish into thin air. There is already some controversy on the launch this morning, with debris being filmed falling off Discovery on liftoff. NASA will be studying this to determine if there may already be some sort of damage. Whether this turns out to be troublesome or not, we are already seeing some effects of the planetary combinations. For story on this see: http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/space/07/26/space.shuttle/index.html Adding to this are things one does not want to see in the charts of the lead persons on board i.e. Mars/Mercury combinations, which at the very least always bring about troubles related to communications and mechanical devices, errors of judgement, accidents etc. Best, Steve Christopher Kevill wrote: Dear Steve and Juliana, You both make suggestive arguments for the mission to not go as planned. >From another perspective, the 2005 Inauguration chart would also support difficulties with transport generally, although this may affect more earthly transportation systems. Guest guest
Just to add to the picture, you've got the lagna lord (also atmakaraka and natural indicator of flight/travel) retrograde and conjunct the 12th lord and the 6th lord while receiving the aspect of the 8th lord. Moon is closely conjunct Rahu, Jupiter is in the ascendant, but conjunct Ketu. None of this is particularly heartening, but we'll see. The navamsa and dashama is quite interesting also. Guest guest
Dera Steve and Chris and all... Thanks for sharing your data and excellent ideas. I cast a prasna chart last week for the moment I received a question about the shuttle launch, i.e., wheteher it would go as planned. 7/21/2005, 15:00:00, DST/WT 1, Lee, MA, USA, Time Zone 5.00, Lat. 42 N 18, Long. 73 W 14, Ayanamsa-Lahiri-23:55:59. The chart had a Libra ascendant so it was radical, because Libra signifies all types of flying craft. The chart lord Venus is the significator of the shuttle, whereas the 7th lord Mars is the significator of the space in which it will fly. Venus is in the 11th house in trine-Ithasla with Mars in the 7th, which means it would fly as planned. However, the Moon is aspecting Saturn; Mars is in square to Saturn; and Saturn is the most elevated planet; and Venus is 8th from the Moon. I agree with Steve that there could be a malfunction once the shuttle is in space, which I also think because of the current direct aspect of Mercury with Neptune, and in the chart for the launch, Mars is in the 8th house. I pray this is not true, even though that kal sarpa aspect is of some concern. These shuttle missions can take on such epic proportions in our collective psyche so if there were a disaster it could be the kind of thing we see in kal sarpa transits. Best regards, Juliana Swanson
Guest guest
Dear Juliana - This is interesting. Where do you get Libra as ruling flying vehicles? Forgot to add that Venus is at a mrityu bhaga degree in the launch chart, btw. Guest guest
Hi Steve, What's especially eye-opening about this launch chart is that you can see how it will worsen in the coming days -- which was your point I believe. Lagnesh Mercury (sorry I'm a Lahiri man) moves closer to falling under Rahu's aspect and is exactly trine around the 31st. The Mercury-Neptune opposition of Juliana is unfortunately next in line and comes exact on Aug 1st. Meanwhile 8L Mars aspects Saturn exactly on July 30th and then 12L Sun on August 2nd. This is incredibly malefic. I especially don't like pattern on the 30th around 18.00 EDT when the Moon is square Uranus and conjunct D9 Mars. Ouch. If the launch chart really reflects the karma of the mission, there's no way this thing is going to go as planned. vaya con dios, Chris - Steven Stuckey valist Tuesday, July 26, 2005 1:09 PM Re: Re: Shuttle Launch July 26 10 AM Hi Chris,It's always difficult to pick out mundane events with certainty. The Mercury-Neptune opposition of Juliana is unfortunately next in line and comes exact on Aug 1st.Meanwhile 8L Mars aspects Saturn exactly on July 30th and then 12L Sun on August 2nd. This is incredibly malefic.I especially don't like pattern on the 30th around 18.00 EDT when the Moon is square Uranus and conjunct D9 Mars. Ouch. If the launch chart really reflects the karma of the mission, there's no way this thing is going to go as planned. Hi Chris, Yes it seems that a number of things are converging at once. Additionally, the 2004 Solar Return for the original Discovery launch in 1984, has Rahu at 9 Aries, close to the 7th cusp of the chart. Mars and Saturn will be approaching this as well towards the end of the mission (due to land at the Kennedy Space Center on August 7th). A large piece of foam from the fuel tank fell off on lift-off yesterday and a small tile covering on the shuttle itself was also somehow lost. The foam caused no damage as far as they can tell so far. The tile may have to be repaired. As a result of the foam problem, NASA has today grounded the entire shuttle fleet until engineers can come up with a fail safe solution for this problem. This very thing of course was what caused the damage to the Columbia and it's subsequent breaking apart on re-entry. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4723109.stm Data continues to be analysed by NASA scientists and more will be known after additional inspections are made when it docks with the Space Station. This is the first time where the crew can actually repair problems in space, or failing to due this, the plan would be for everyone to stay in the Space Station until a rescue mission could be launched. I have the NASA channel on TV at home and have been watching this drama in space all day. My father worked at the Best, Steve
Guest guest
Hi Steve, It's also interesting that Mars is casting its most malefic 8th house aspect to the 8th house Uranus in the original shuttle chart for Columbia on Arp 4 1981 at 7.00.03. The chart doesn't quite seem afflicted enough to spell doom this time around however, but certainly there will be untoward developments. Also, your message got cut off mid-sentence. Maybe you could finish your thought about your father. Maybe you could finish your thought about your father. Hi Chris, I'm having a few problems with my computer. I hope there are no more than a few "hiccoughs" (as NASA has already called the trouble so far), in the upcoming days of the Discovery mission. My father used to work at Lockheed in Palmdale, where the shuttles were built. I've taken a few tours of the plant and was always fascinated with the monumental task of building things like that. Palmdale is situated less than 30 miles from Edwards Air Force base, where most of the shuttles landed. I was at my father's a number of times when the shuttle came in, sending out two powerful shock waves ahead of it, one right after the other, as it came back through the sound barrier. The windows would always rattle, like we were having an earthquake when this happened. My father had a high security clearance and spent some of his time at Lockheed working on secret projects in their high tech Skunk Works division. He was a heavy duty Plutonian, and therefore I never was able to get any information from him about what he was doing. There were rumors going around that some of the Skunk Works people were being flown to the infamous Area 51, where the government was working on duplicating Alien/UFO technology--I'm fairly certain my father was not amongst those. Guest guest
Dear members, Here is an update on the shuttle Discovery mission: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/4736941.stm The mission has been extended by one day, to allow for some "unprecedented" repairs.
