Hi Janna,

The author mentions a study of "several charts" and later that the

"majority" of cancer cases have the Moon/Saturn disposition. Not meaning

to be sarcastic or over critical (since I don't know how many charts are

being referred to here)--but the author is stating literally that the

"majority" of "several" cases have this condition. I did read the

article where only 5 cases are mentioned.

Being interested in this premise, I pulled 278 cases of persons having

cancer from the Astrodatabank (all data from charts rated AA-- from the

birth certificate or birth record). Using Lahiri's ayanamsa, I

calculated that 56 of these charts (or 20%) had a form of Saturn's full

or 100% aspect on the Moon in the navamsa chart.

17 of these or 6% had the Moon/Saturn by conjunction, 10 or 4% by

opposition, and the remainder of 29 or 9.5% by Saturns third house aspect.

These results do not show a majority and should be compared to persons

who have no history of cancer to see if these numbers are even relevant.

Best wishes,

Steve

*Note--there were no instances of Saturn's 10th house aspect on the Moon

in any of the 56 navamsa charts.

Thanks, Steve, for sharing your research. The astrologer who answered the

query about Cancer-Moon & Saturn said that the effect would be more related

to Saturn's impact on mind and emotions, and this made sense to me since if

the mind is 'dis-eased,' the body will reflect that, although not necessarily in

the form of Cancer. He further gave an example of an Alzheimer's patient he

took care of and wondered if the patient had a Moon-Saturn aspect and when

he ran a chart, the patient had Moon-Saturn together in the same house/sign.

(Juliana had posed a query about planetary patterns indicating Alzheimer's

recently, and the Moon-Saturn aspect might be interesting to research with

regard to mind-memory loss and Saturn-Moon).

I have natally a 10th house aspect of Saturn on Moon and now by transit as

well, and I do find that I am more prone to Saturnian symptoms of worry and

depression (this may be heightened by Rahu's 5th aspect on Saturn as well

as Saturn's transit in Cancer), and I find that I'm staying in Cancer's

protective

shell more and more since Saturn entered Cancer in an attempt to stabilize

my inner state. But I would be interested in more data on Saturn-Moon.

Hi Janna,

The Latin origin of the word 'Cancer' is 'Crab'--this so named by Greek

physician Galen because of the similarity in appearance of some tumors

to the crab.

It makes perfect sense, and I can vouch for this also in charts that

I've seen, that some cancers may be related to deep seated emotions.

Cancer is one of the most senstive and empathic signs of the zodiac.

They have a self protective habit of drawing into their 'shells' when

they are emotionally hurt in some way.

The connection of .Saturn in Cancer, or Saturn/Moon may tend to inhibit

in some way the expression of feeing, so that feelings are deeply held

within.

Jupiter can also play a role in the development of tumors or growths,

but these don't always have to be malignant of course.

I'll look through my files and see if I can offer anything pertinent on

this....
