Guest guest
I admit this is not astrology, but lately in America this famous movie actor Tom Cruise has been speaking out publicly against psychiatry, and anti-depressant drugs, and speaking up Scientology, his chosen ³religion². This makes me very agitated. I have to just say my piece. Anti depressents have worked wonders for me personally. I still take two, and without them I experience tremendous trouble. A number of members of my large birth family take them, and need them. My father had a serious brain disorder, and so perhaps we are one of those families where the thread of mental troubles has a genetic factor. Psychiatry is a science, and I have personally experienced that, and do regularly, as I continue to deal with my psychiatrist. I have extensive experience, in my past, with persons following scientology. I do not like the way they act and think, and I do not like how that ³Church² operates. But that is not my business ours is a free country. If people want to spend thousands with them for science fiction based beliefs, that¹s their right. It is my business that this multi multi millionaire actor thinks he has the right, and then actually has the guts, to criticize psychiatry and psych meds. That angers me greatly. I just have to say: Tom Cruise is very wrong, and way out of line.

I used anti-depressants for a while and was also involved in group therapy for several years--both of these helped me. In a look at 135 charts of people suffering from depression a few things by way of planetary configurations seem to stand out. These combinations repeat irrespective of the aspect harmonic or orb of aspect used. The following combinations occur more frequently than other aspects using 4th, 6th, 8th and 12th harmnonic aspects (these include conjunction, semi-sextile, sextile, trine, semi-square, sesqui-square, square, opposition, and quincunx in various combinations) with close orbs of aspect between 3 degrees to 5 degrees only. These are: Sun/Jupiter, Jupiter/Node, Jupiter/Ascendant, Venus/Jupiter, Mars/Jupiter,Mercury/Moon, Mercury/Mars, Mercury/Node, and Moon/Node. There appears to be generally two types of categories from the above data. One is a Jupiterian type of depression (perhaps a reflection of the opposite of Jupiterian optimism) and the other (and perhaps somewhat more expected), a Mercurial type of depression. Jupitarian depression may be related to blood sugar, liver, or the effects of various types of over indulgence and excesses. Mercurial may have more of a connection to the nervous system. These are only very simplistic observations of a very complex subject and may or may not have any real bearing as determinents of depression. More work on the subject is needed. Best wishes, Steve
