Moon-Lagna Analysis

Dear Learned Astrologers: In attempting to further refine my comprehension, I

would like to know from those who read charts the weight of importance; for

example, when analysing do you give more importance to planets counted

from the Moon or from lagna? When I read different interpretations, the

reading from the Moon's house such as 2nd house from the Moon (Taurus

Moon for NT Aries Moon, Cancer lagna) is very different (and sometimes

more negative) than an 11th house Moon (Venus-ruled Taurus) for a Cancer

lagna (as another example). Do you use both (Moon and lagna), choose one

or the other, or consider both? Are the readings based on the house of the

Moon more emotional or mind-based than counting houses from the lagna? I

would appreciate some clarification. Personal Example: Mercury has entered

Aries (NT Moon for Cancer lagna). One interpretation is: "Beware of the

snakes in the grass. Avoid arguments and brace up for unwarranted

constraints. Traveling results in losses or brings bad news." Yet I would have

hoped for more clarity since Mercury has finally left Pisces, which felt like

one

long Mercury Rx to me, and is now in the house of career and NT Moon's

house? Is the negative cast due to Mars ruling the house that Mercury has

entered, and are Mars and Mercury unfriendly? Would appreciate your views.

Thank you.

Dear Janna,

Lagna or ascendent should always be given prime importance

while analysing horoscopes. Moon stays in a sign for around 54 hours whereas

ascendents change every two hours. Lagna-based chart reading is more precise

and practical. If things are not clear enough from lagna than the moon chart

can be taken up.

I never analyse moon chart. All my interpretations are based on

lagna chart and other sub-divisional charts. For aries moon, mercury becomes

lord of sixth(enemies, arguments, losses, etc) and third(struggle, travels).

For cancer ascendent, it is lord of twelfth(expenses) and third. Being

placed in tenth it shows expenses on professional matters and also some kind

of social work. Avoid lending out money to anyone while mercury is in tenth.

Regards,

Ashutosh.
