Guest guest
I must admit that I am not at all clear on the role(s) of a practicing astrloger...to say nothing of the ethical considerations implied in discussing this woman's chart openly at this forum.......she must feel rather like a surgical patient with out enough anesthesia.......... sincerely, david
Guest guest
Hey David, I suspect there isn't a 'role of the practicing astrologer'. I think all people (of any profession) have the ability to be our teacher. Sometimes by their faults serving as examples, and sometimes from their ability to open their mouth and let the Universe speak. Since so many of us color what we say by our own self-issues (good OR bad), the Universe has trouble speaking over all the noise we make. But they say that 'when the student is ready, the teacher will appear'. So frequently, any person's 'role' (in regards to anyone else's life) is not dependent on ourself, but on how others perceive us. So we can each only do the best we can do, and we're lucky if we help anyone at all. As to ethics and anesthesia: I think that since the woman put forth her situation and did not ask for a private answer, then answering onlist is fine. She has not asked anyone to stop and she is free to at any time. Yes, it is very hard to hear hurtful things in public. That's unfortunate. But years ago I was involved in testing a board game (that I helped create) with focus groups. Nothing was learned by listening to the intelligent, thoughtful and kind players. ALL the INCREDIBLY USEFUL information was learned from the stupid, rude, wish-I-could-chuck-them-out-the-window players. Those people instigated vitally necessary improvements. Most of us learn by 'burning the hand on the stove'. If we don't listen/learn, the stove often gets hotter, until we finally feel the burn and stop contributing to our own demise. Anyway, those are my thoughts. --- dareid79 <dareid79 wrote: > I must admit that I am not at all clear on the > role(s) of a practicing > astrloger...to say nothing of the ethical > considerations implied in discussing > this woman's chart openly at this forum.......she > must feel rather like a surgical > patient with out enough anesthesia.......... > sincerely, david Mail Mobile Take Mail with you! If the motive of the astrologers is really to help, they highlight the good more in a chart than the bad things, and give him hope to strive on his strengths and strengthen his weaknesses. An astrologer must know that "what you say is important, but how you say it is even more important". And you do not need a PhD in astrology to advice some one to abstain from vices (illicit relationship for example) in a palatable way. Any gentle man or gentle woman or a sober person, who does not know astrology also, will advice against vice. Irrespective of the placement of planets in a chart, the greatest strength in a chart is one's independence, and an astrologer must know to guide the client not to misuse that independence. An astrologer must have the proper knowledge to guide a client how to properly excercise his/her independence. Otherwise what is the use of astrologers and astrology? Yes, the planets may be troubling the client in so many ways, or helping in so many ways, but still the astrologer must give the hope to the client not to stray away from dharma. We can advice some one that he will have windfalls, good health nothing to worry etc,. and let him relax and stray away from dharma and in the end go to hell or petrify him about all the bad in the chart, and make him feel hopeless, and think that any why I am in hellish conditions what is the point in suffering and let me enjoy what ever little bit I have away from virtue and in the end go to hell. An astrologer is responsible for his client's straying away from dharma if he misguides him. Care has to be taken to always guide clents on virtue *in a most palatable way*. The client may have planets troubling one's marriage life, but there is a higher strength which an individual can excercise that is his freewill and follow dharma inspite of all the troubles. Not easy, but it is worth it, to stay on the path of dharma inspite of all obstacles. It is more rewarding than just sail with the wind. "Do not impart the knowledge of this Shastra to one, who is insignificative, slanders, or calumniates others, nor to one, who is not intelligent, is wicked and unknown to you. Teach this supreme Vedanga Jyotish Shastra only to one, who is gentle and amiable, devoted, truthful, brilliant and well known to you." ------ Conclusion of Parasara Hora Sastra. Warm Regards, YB Prasad.
