Guest guest
I was trying to recall the earlier posts and discussion on ethics in astrology and whether a reading can cause harm. The search facility I find a bit useless to be honest. Whats drawn my attention to the subject is I recently discovered the website of ex astrology students of mine from 1999. They were complete beginners in astrology, and had no familiarity with either western or vedic astrology. But they were ambitious. I told them about myself, how I started astrology in 1978. How I did charts by hand as computers were not available, and discussed it a lot. As they were adults I discussed teaching them how to do the maths and they chose to keep on interpretation. I did say we would go back in a later class. Arter a couple of terms they dropped out of the class and did not get to that. 12 months later they were doing readings and teaching astrology at a college through family contacts. Now their website has used some of my autobiographical dates which I discussed in chart, and mixed it up a bit, saying they have done astrology since 1980. I told them I read james brahas book in 1988, and about some articles i was reading in 1980 about krishnamurti padhati, which were very in depth chart readings and I found fascinating. And some of my dates etc turned up in THEIR resume, backdating their astrology experiences. They are now promoting themselves as leading vedic astrologers and teachers. I got feedback from a number of people who have had readings and have had rather negative experiences with them last year and the year before. I had not realised they were not being honest about their level of experience until I saw the website. But really if people are dishosest theres nothing much we can do. dawn woodhouse
