Guest guest
Dear Dawn, This has happened to almost all of us. Only you have been straightforward enough to expose them. The best way to avoid helping such dishonest people is to read the horoscopes of aspiring students and to teach them only if they have the required honesty and dedication. I have personally known many who used to approach me with horoscopes posing as students of astrology. After discussing the problems which they could not understand themselves, they would go and sell the solutions to their ignorant clients as their own efforts. Finally when I came to know the truth, I stopped helping them. True students are always welcome, but dishonest ones are not. Guest guest
ALL SUCH PEOPLE BELIEVE IN EARNING MONEY EVEN IF THEY HAVE TO USE THEIR GURUS AS LADDERS WHOM THEY CAN ALWAYS KICK AWAY ONCE THEY HAVE REACHED THE TOP. ---- Dawn 04/02/05 14:21:52 valist ethics in astrology etc I was trying to recall the earlier posts and discussion on ethics in astrology and whether a reading can cause harm. The search facility I find a bit useless to be honest. Whats drawn my attention to the subject is I recently discovered the website of ex astrology students of mine from 1999. They were complete beginners in astrology, and had no familiarity with either western or vedic astrology. But they were ambitious. I told them about myself, how I started astrology in 1978. How I did charts by hand as computers were not available, and discussed it a lot. As they were adults I discussed teaching them how to do the maths and they chose to keep on interpretation. I did say we would go back in a later class. Arter a couple of terms they dropped out of the class and did not get to that. 12 months later they were doing readings and teaching astrology at a college through family contacts. Now their website has used some of my autobiographical dates which I discussed in chart, and mixed it up a bit, saying they have done astrology since 1980. I told them I read james brahas book in 1988, and about some articles i was reading in 1980 about krishnamurti padhati, which were very in depth chart readings and I found fascinating. And some of my dates etc turned up in THEIR resume, backdating their astrology experiences. They are now promoting themselves as leading vedic astrologers and teachers. I got feedback from a number of people who have had readings and have had rather negative experiences with them last year and the year before. I had not realised they were not being honest about their level of experience until I saw the website. But really if people are dishosest theres nothing much we can do. dawn woodhouse
Guest guest
Hey, I've sold my program to many. And people talk to me when they are on the phone buying the software, and of course, if they ask me, "what is the Naviuamaminsha Chart for", and I say, "oh, do you mean Navamsha", then they say, "Yeah, that"... And later, they tell me they're just starting, etc.. Then, a year later, they are "masters" in their ads, and on the list, giving advice, writing articles, etc. Books from beginners, is something that happens in these kinds of fields. That's ok on one level, their zeal does some of the "spreading" work, and I partially am in that category with my software and writings in my early days, oh yeah, I'll own that. This has happened a good few times at least. Interesting. Well, on the bright side, perhaps they have past karma. Some went on and on and did become something in the last 12 years. But I do say give it ten years in my writings. And also, lying is no good really ever, is it? Except maybe to save your life in times of war when crossing borders or something. And personally, I feel like real shiezze lately, for a good long time, trying to get better, but treading water. "Shuddering in sensitivity" is probably best how I could describe myself. A long time inmate of ongoing strong depression. I keep going. Being born the same day as the Pope, I find it interesting that I too feel and experience some throat troubles lately, and saturn is in the second (throat) from our Sun's (May 18, Taurus). I still don't or won't do readings for people. I feel completely unable to give good results. I mean, I don't feel "good enough" to do readings. It's a confidence that is lacking. Always has been. I don't want to harm, be wrong, or mislead. It's a grave and great mantle, to give readings. Go on doing it if you are, if you feel good and things seem good with your clients. I don't mean to dissuade. Just sharing. Das Goravani, Pres. Service http://www.dancingmooninc.com
