Guest guest
Dear Ashutosh, Thank you so much for your thoughts and responding to my question on gems. I've been away for 5 days and didn't have the time to respond to your post before leaving. I very much enjoyed and appreciated your sharing and your thinking on gems for Smita's husband, and your views on other charts for which you've also posted responses. This below makes great sense and is helpful for me thinking in these terms for mutually enimical planets. Gems are powerful and as such I don't offer any thoughts really for wearing them as I'm still too much the student. Also it was interesting to see Wendy's thinking in asking what the effects could be for the combust planets if the Sun is strengthened by gem, and clearly the Sun's role in protecting the individual - but still this doesn't necessarily include protecting the planets themselves (and therefore their significations) that are combust the Sun. My original question was regarding the Sun being lagna lord and in 8H. Perhaps this is also too general a question and depends further on each individual chart. In Smita's husband's chart, the Sun is clearly a strong significator for both 1st and 8th houses. That it is gandanta as well made this a good example for learning related to a lagna lord, which by some is often said to aways be safe to strengthen with gems (which we see here is NOT the case, proving again the individuality of each chart, and that these generalizations are not good, and these kinds of general rules). In this case Sun being gandanta, again giving Sun a need for definite help and propritiation - but yet the strong signification to both 1H and 8H. So originally I was hoping to learn, separately from the planets which are combust, what a knowledgeable and experienced astrologer understanding gems fully and experienced, what one would think to do with this clear 8H involvement with lagna lord. Again, thanks Ashutosh, for your thoughtful response and help. Kindest regards, Patrice ___________ Dear Patrice, Wearing gemstones for mutually enemical planets will give zero effect to the native because both the gems will weaken each other's effects. It is similar to drinking hot coffee and cold water at the same time. Thats why neither positive nor negative effects were seen on wearing both ruby and sapphire. Ashutosh. Guest guest
Dear Patrice, I usually advice wearing of one gem at a time and giving each one at least one month's period to evaluate its effects. Mars is clearly the strong and beneficial planet. But, sun, as you have rightly pointed out, is in its last degree and in eighth house too. But it is in seventh of jupiter which is also eighth and fifth lord. Jupiter is retrograde with ketu increasing its strength. In fact, jupiter has been protecting him all along. It would have been wiser to wear a Yellow sapphire along with ruby and coral. But, one has to judge the financial constraints also. A yellow sapphire means an average indian's two to three months' earnings will be spent. The ascendent lord, however weak, is a benefic. But, when it is combusting other planets one should play safe. I have advised Smita to let her Husband wear ruby in april after sun has entered Aries. They already have ruby ring with them. All doubts will be cleared whether it is affecting adversely or beneficially. In navamsa sun is vargottam and in fourth house. It can be safely worn for at least a short period of time.
