Guest guest
Yes, write in, ³Das Goravani for President² Vice President will be: Ammachi Some highlights of my platform: Healthy food for everyone. No more junk, chemicals, etc. No more junk television. Instead, enlightening programs. Make friends with other nations instead of bombing them. For every gunshot in a movie, the price goes up by one dollar to see it, and the funds are then turned over to non-violence training for citizens. Ever cigarette cost at least 1 dollar. And all the funds go into rehab, counseling, medical, etc. Gasoline will be $20 a gallon, phased in slowly over 10 years, and the money goes to making smaller cities. All SUV¹s will be melted down. (humor) Tax credit for buying dinky cars, and riding bikes instead. Tax credits for riding bikes. Development of bike rain covers. Bike racks and lanes everywhere. Phasing out of all things that use Tantalum, including cell phones, game boys, etc. Phasing in of a green economy, ecology, lifestyle, etc etc Enlightenment as the goal. Good medical care for all. Equality for all in the civil arena. Freedom of speech and religion maintained of course. Change the Anglo Saxxen rich white man constitution where necessary as we are no longer a nation of just those peoples. Must apply for permit to buy large vehicle, otherwise, everyone must drive very small ones. Clear attempt to phase out tobacco, coffee, drugs, etc. from their national addiction status. Funding for huge Jyotish program to establish how the hell life really words alright already? US election system redone to reflect simply the popular vote, not the ³electoral college² as now. (Al Gore would have won if this was the case) Isn¹t that a great start?
Guest guest
Yes, I think this would be a great start. Also, I was thinking that it would be great if there was a system that allowed us to vote in a much more issue-based way than we do now. What i mean by this is aspects of all the platforms would be there in front of you in the voting box as an alternative to. . . alright, too complicated... I also agree that we have to try a system, whether the popular vote or otherwise, that is representational of the electorate in a different way than the one we have in place now. Maybe something that is more akin to proportional representation as it applies to the party system would be good. There were some interesting options put forward in the Nation around the time of the 2000 election. I could probably scare up the archives if need be. . Guest guest
So your plan would be to do away with Kali Yuga, correct? Alexandro Rick adds: Yes, we would try. But would it be possible? Probably not, as, the citizens probably wouldn't back me on this, in other words, they want Kali Yuga. Darn it! I guess goodness comes down to what is in everyone's hearts and minds. Unless the desire in everyone is pure, the environment they create will be as polluted as they are. It is said in Bhagavatam that Kali resides wherever "Gold is traded", meaning, wherever money matters are traded, like as in the stock market, which is now online, and on TV, often. So I guess Kali is now everywhere, and in fact, stopping my sarcasm, I know this to be true, basically, tha purity is not even known to most people. I feel lucky to have experienced really fine spiritual experiences in this life, away from those considerations. Greed and goodness cannot co-exist, just as Lust and Protecting also cannot, and so on. Peace Rick
