I got this from my writers group and am passing it on.

 

Wear Red On Fridays

 

When Norway was occupied by Germany in 1940, Norwegian women began to knit

RED caps for their familys as a way of letting everyone know that they did

not like waht was happening in their country, that they didn't like having

their freedom taken away by the Nazis. My great aunt, Karin Knudson

Mysrstad was on e of the women who did this. Similarly, in Denmark, women

knit red, white and blue caps for the same reason. Therefore, the people

could see that the Majority opposed what was going on in their countries..

As you know, both countries organized effective Resistance efforts and

helped change history.

 

I believe that at the very heart of our democracy is the right to oppose

certain policies of our government. Increasinly, our government is

redefining "freedom" in ways that make too many Americans perceive that it

is risky to oppose the Bush administrations policies. I've been thinking

that it's time to take action in a way that is effective and easy for us to

do. Just wear red every Friday between now and election day. Wear a

little; wear a lot, but wear red and we'll call it Freedom Fridays. This

email has been forwarded around the country and there has been an

enthusiastic response.

Whatever the stated reason, the Patriot Act is a one step towards a

totalitarian police state in America. There is already a law that all young

men MUST register for the draft. Currently not enforced, it's in place, and

when and if they pass a draft law, and there is one going through Congress

right now, then it's all in place- spying without subpoena or court order,

and automatic full army. I noticed shows on TV showing Marine training with

heart pounding rock and roll as the background music. It's happening. They

are pumping up our youth to be soldiers, all of them, the slogan, an Army of

One, which is very similar to the speaches given by Adolf long ago, about

how there must be only ONE ruler, and EVERYONE must by aligned under ONE

ruler otherwise they will not be able to GET RID OF THE TERRORISTS (back

then it was Jews, now it's Arabs) and save the "Good People" from this

blight. Bush often says "We're a good people". So? So are other people.

That means nothing. Now they are also watching all airplane activity of

Americans, all flights everywhere are monitored. Freedom? Seems "not under

Bush". So, vote him and the Patriot act out. Less army, more education!

 

And if any Republican, Arab Hater, Army Lover, Bush lover, hates me posting

this, to them I say:

 

I understand your feelings. I'm complex enough to do so. Really.

 

I am well read, and know what's going on "over there". I too, like you, fear

the mood of fanatical Islam, and feel it is often misdirested, and it has

proved itself to have dangerous elements, thus does pose a real threat.

 

I also feel that America is sickly selfish, and deserves to be disliked.

Nowhere on Earth do you find our wanton excess, and naturally that will

attract attention from those who either are without, or have a strong

doctrine of action against irreligiousness as they perceive it. We appear to

be irreligious to most religious people. If you don't understand this you

are simply not educated, or not well traveled.

 

So long as we buy TONS of SUVS during gas crisis years, and are known for

similar things, like wanton television, excessive greed, excessive and

unmatchable use of force, cowardly tactics like obliterative invisible

bombing, while trying to enforce "no weapons of mass destruction" and other

completely hypocritical activities that kill people, then so long we will be

veheminitely hated by our victims. You must understand that Muslims "over

there" feel every bit as much human as you, and feel they have a right to

existence every bit as much as you. However primitive you feel they are,

they feel similarly that you are advanced in evil. It doesn't matter who's

right or wrong. What matters is that there's another way to coexist besides

totalitarian control, and war.

 

Once we start on this path it will never end. Bush has created MUCH MORE

hate in the Arab world for the US. He's made it WORSE to be an American.

Ashcroft has made life for all Americans much worse. We have killed 4 times

the amount of people they killed (using only civilian death figures in

Iraq), and Iraq didn't even attack us, nor do they have WMD's, nor do they

have missles that can reach us, nor did they have a significant army, etc

etc. We did what we did, ACTUALLY, to get a foothold in enemy territory, to

control oil, etc.

 

American's are dumb enough to be led around like this, and the congress is

not independent, they vote on hysteria. So if Bush drops a bomb, CNN covers

it, American's go ape shit, and Congress has to vote following the hysteria,

or they get booted out of office, so actually, a good bomb by the white

house, is all it takes to start a War. That's NOT democracy. That's Hitler.

 

 

Wear RED on Fridays.

 

And START READING AND THINKING

 

That's what the Internet is for.

 

I'm conservative. But I THINK.

 

Bush is DUMB. It's written all over his dumb face. America deserves him,

but we should try for better, in ourselves, and in the White House.

 

Yes, if you sense I'm pissed off at my country you're right. I'm very

dissapointed in the television culture, and freeway/SUV culture... That our

military is growing, but our schools are less funded, that we allow low

paying jobs to all go over seas, which forces the young into the military. I

can see, even if you cannot. Unless all of us start ACTING based on our

conscience, the greedy will continue to ship jobs overseas, and the White

House will continue to have STUPID SPEACHES and perform STUPID actions and

kill innocent people where'er they like.

 

Ps#2: If you think arming to the teeth and fighting all of Islam is cool,

you're in for a very long guerilla war, like Vietnam, which you cannot win,

as the underdog, the little guy, will again, NOT be US, but THEM, and they

will not stop, because you are attacking not only their bodies, but their

dignity, identity, history, everything. Think again. Islam will not take

this sitting down. We must STOP a war that is obviously racial and

religiously focused. Bin Laden started this phase perhaps, then OK, go after

Him, but not Iraq. And certainly NOT other Arab nations. More diplomacy and

start "giving in" culturally here. Take an SUV, cut it in half, use half the

metal for a humble car, and the other half to make bicycles, and ride them,

and stop eating french fries, lose weight, read instead of TV, and that's a

great start.

 

Adult Saudi Arabia knows us, many of them schooled here. Their kids hate us,

as they don¹t school here. The more we kick them out, the more they hate us,

making things worse, not better. Stop watching all scum television, and

openly let others know your feelings as I am doing. Spread a culture of

intelligence in America FOR ONCE. Be OVERT about being a THINKER. It¹s our

right. Stop the spread of stupid greedy slutty modern American ³culture².

 

Why do we have a BILLIONAIRE training us how to be GREEDY on TV?, ³the

intern² or whatever that stupid show is called? Why do we worship Paris

Hilton? And Britney Spears? Put it on your cars. Speak it. Stand up for

your rights to thinking and freedom, real freedom. THIS IS AMERICA, right?

Stop the spread of Hitler like policies and don¹t vote this war monger back

into office.
