Guest guest
Saturn, Marriage and Relationship May 11, 2004 Hi All, Since we're kind of on this tack, I thought to throw this at ya. We've all read and heard about Saturn's role in terms of overall maturation. But I think what we don't consider nearly enough is this ringed planet's role in relationships and marriage. Classically, Saturn is exalted in Libra - Venus' sign. There is a link established between these two unlikely planets. If one takes the time to study the history and purpose of marriage, particularly in the Western context, one can easily see the connections between this institution's development and Saturn's Western classical exaltation. We all know that any contact between Venus and Saturn tends to suggest a "toning down" a "chilling" of the emotions. A delay, strategic, emotional, or otherwise, can occur in terms of the "blooming" of Venusian dimensions. Looked at in the way we are daling with here, it can suggest a slow, steady building of relationship; permanance, purpose, and committment are the keys. We all know the state of affairs as it relates to marriage here in the USA. Divorce rates are at all-time high levels. Additionally, we know from many studies produced by those who work in such fields, that the YOUNGER a person is when they marry, the MORE LIKELY they are to divorce later on. Most researchers tend to agree that, in our society, a person who marries before age 25 has a tremendous set of odds stacked against them in terms of making their marriage last in the long term. But we astrologers have an additional insight when it comes to these and other matters. It is called the Saturn Return. This period, usually occuring between 28 to 30 years of age, is a time when transiting Saturn returns to its natal placement in the chart. This entire period reflects a very important time of life; it is a time when a person truly becomes an adult in our society. How many of us have seen couples who marry prior to their Saturn Return, only to divorce not soon after? I think a major reason for this has to do with the fact, for most people, they haven't really come into their own, so to speak. Saturn represents "the harsh reality", and marriage is a huge responsibility and committment. In our ever increasing freedom oriented, individualistic worshipping culture, such concerns are easily tossed aside. In particular, in my view, Saturn tying itself into either the 7th house and/or Venus in the chart, and/or Saturn Rx, is even stronger signal that caution and preparedness is needed when it comes to the question of marriage. Time, experience, confidence-building and emotional maturation are needed before such a massive undertaking is done. I think, more than we may want to admit or even realize, that Saturn's role is very, very important when it comes to considering the question of marriage or serious, committed longterm relationship. Anyone have any comments, observations or charts they might want to share? Salaam, Mu

Guest guest
Hi Mu, A wonderful article from ur end. I totally agree with the role of Sat. I have observed Sat Ven conjunctions showing a lot of immaturity in relationships, also found most people suddenly becoming mature during their Saturn return. Sometimes I have found that a person can even change careers or his career starts when Sat return happens. I guess this happens since in Nadi astrology Saturn is karmakaraka. These are my limited observations. best wishes Sunil gjlist, "MuMin Bey" <mumin_bey> wrote: > Saturn, Marriage and Relationship > > May 11, 2004 > > Hi All, > > Since we're kind of on this tack, I thought to throw this at ya. > > We've all read and heard about Saturn's role in terms of overall > maturation. Guest guest
Hello all, Your message really struck a cord with me and first I'd like to thank you for sharing it on this list! I have lived through some "classic" Saturn situations with regards to relationships. Saturn in 7th (Aries), and Saturn lord of 5th (for some the house of pre-marital relationships). Saturn has mostly coloured the "endings" of my relationships, with the feeling that I've had "the rug pullled from under me" all of a sudden. The majority of my relationships have been very good, it's in the ending that Saturn really manifested himself in my own situations. Interestingly enough, my last relationship was with someone who has Saturn in Libra (someone much older) which was by far, even if it did not last, one of the relationships I learnt the most from. Thank again, Francoise gjlist, "MuMin Bey" <mumin_bey> wrote: > Saturn, Marriage and Relationship > > May 11, 2004 > > Hi All, > > Since we're kind of on this tack, I thought to throw this at ya. > > We've all read and heard about Saturn's role in terms of overall > maturation. I like to think as a chart as a whole, and isolated one planet and therefore determime this is where the effects come from, but this is still possible , I think. But, what if one planet is debilitated- showing disasterous ffects for something , but there are 10 canceellation effects in the rest of the chart? And just becase yu may not see them or know about them doesn;t mean that someone else cant see it. Anyway, you used the word "relationships", this already says something from some point of view- In india and other aisen countries, for example, this is a rare word. One indian told me there are 3 tings you do once in india, born, die, and get married. many do not date before they are married. Just from you little indication of your chart, saturn in aires in 7th, you see "relationships" comes up. It could give affliction to marriage house and romance house as you described but with proper jyotish matching, and a willingness on your side, you can be happly married , if you want. Guest guest
Hi , Quite true. I have Saturn in Aries in the 11th house looking at my 5th house of Libra. The two relationships that I had did end rather suddenly. Also , am still not married .... My 29th year onwards has indeed been a period of "growing up" where relationships are concerned. Best wishes Surf --- Francoise <francoisemethot wrote: > Hello all, > > Your message really struck a cord with me and first > I'd like to > thank you for sharing it on this list! > > I have lived through some "classic" Saturn > situations with > regards to relationships. Guest guest
Hi Ron, You seem to have that stereotype image of India of snake charmers & elephants. We do have those of course. However, let me assure you Indians don't just "get born , die & get married". Especially, all the metro cities are quite modern ("westernized") & comparable in most matters with any other western city. We do a whole lotta things in between birth & marriage & death. Folks here do have "relationships" & date before they get married (& even after they get married!). Surf --- Ron <sidha7001 wrote: > Hi , > > I am jumping in here.
