Hello Everyone

Its quite daunting to be a beginner. Especially, when you are in a

foreign country where there are no other Vedic astrologers to ask for

guidance. Don't despair, ask as many questions on the various forums,

that's how ive learnt. Many seasoned astrologers have been stressing on

learning the basics.

BOOKS

-----

My favourite beginners books are:

1> Light on Life by DeFouw & Svoboda - its got a great chapter on the

philosophy of Jyotish, Karma, etc. A great book for the theoretical

understanding on concepts of Jyotish. A few good case studies in detail

on famous peoples charts.

2> How to Judge a Horoscope Vol 1& 2 by BV Raman - A classic on the

classics by one of the greatest Astrologers of our time. Many, Many

examples of charts illustrating various scenarious per house.

3> Beneath the Vedic Sky by William Levacy - excellent book, well

written with the beginner in mind. Only problem is that there are no

examples, but well worth the investment. A big bonus is a limited

edition of Goravani Jyotish bundled for free, together with audio

pronunciations of Astrological & Vedic terms

-----

SOFTWARE

-----

Also, an investment in Jyotish software....Goravani Jyotish is a must

for beginners. Its easy to navigate the programme, many useful features

for the beginner. Astrology of the Seers (limited edition) by David

Frawley and lots of reading material, tables, glossary of terms, etc

bundled in programme. Goravani Jyotish also has many research

applications, not to mention the best printouts I have seen.

VIDEOS - LEARNING JYOTISH

-----

Das Goravani has brought out 3 amazing Videos that explain the complex

concepts of Jyotish to the beginner in an easy manner, in Das's special

way. I watched this video after many months of grappling on the basics

and wish I had these videos from the beginning.

Hope this helps. Happy studying.

Regards

Bipin
