Guest guest
Hi everybody, I have books on vedic astrology which are good reference for the basics but reading them I do not feel confident about telling something about a chart. What I mean is that when I have a chart I want to see some basic details about the person and his/her life but I am not getting the grasp of subject by reading this books. I am not at the stage where I want to do any kind of advance reading on a chart or for that matter predict anything I just want to get the hang of basic intution behind it. Can somebody suggest good books for the beginigers .

Guest guest
Hi Lisa I'd recommend Hart De Fowe's Light on Life as a good well rounded introduction Nicholas - "lisadesai8" <rina15573 <gjlist> Monday, February 23, 2004 6:46 AM [GJ] Books on jyotish. > Hi everybody, > > I have books on vedic astrology which are good reference for the > basics but reading them I do not feel confident about telling > something about a chart. Guest guest
Hi Lisa, Given your interest in being able to "tell something about a chart" you would be well advised to go to www.yournetastrologer.com and read about the Impact of (Ascending) Signs. Select the sign of interest to you. Books by Professor VK Choudhry, also mentioned on this site, are a great place to start, especially the Systems' Approach for Interpreting Horoscopes. Guest guest
How to Judge a Horoscope, Parts I and II. Also, Notable Horoscopes, by B.V. Raman. Don't let these books get lost in the crowd of sub standard books which have flooded the market, they are classics on interpretation. Guest guest
I would recommend a new book by Andrew Bloomfield. I believe it's called something like Learning Vedic Astrology. It's widely available in stores in the US and Canada. Very nicely laid out, large format, high quality printing -- a pleasure to read. Very simply and plainly written, loaded with telling celebrity charts, and gives an excellent review of all the basics you need to start learning jyotish. I wish it was around when I started. cheers, Chris - "deandddd" <deandddd <gjlist> Friday, February 27, 2004 9:18 AM [GJ] Re: Books on jyotish. > How to Judge a Horoscope, Parts I and II. Guest guest
I would also recommend the new book by Andrew Bloomfield called something like "Learning Vedic Astrology". Large format, nicely laid out, easy to read, loads of celebrity charts, and very simply written (ie no excessive use of sanskrit). Perfect for someone starting out with jyotish. Guest guest
Chris! Seems like a long time since I've seen you on this list. What a pleasure to have you back, however temporarily. I thought you were too busy with the Magi thing. I enjoyed very much your posts on that site but, frankly, Mitchell annoys me to the point of criminal thoughts so I switched to "no e-mail" and hardly ever remember to go back and see what's up. You, Muse and Sandra, though, were worth reading. Still, life's too short... Hope you stick around... --- Christopher Kevill <christopher.kevill wrote: > I would recommend a new book by Andrew Bloomfield. > I believe it's called > something like Learning Vedic Astrology. Guest guest
Hi Mary Sorry you bailed out of the magi list. Yeah, Mitchell can come on strong sometimes but he's really a good guy. Maybe just a little too no-nonsense. Like many other lists these days, the magi list is quiet. I wonder if the heyday of mailing lists are all in the past. Sorry for the double post here on the books. I posted two days ago and it never appeared so I posted again. It took over 24 hours to show up on the list! Thought I would just drop in to see what was happening. Nice to hear from you, Chris gjlist, Mary Quinn <mary1quinn> wrote: > Chris! > > Seems like a long time since I've seen you on this > list.
