Peace & Greetings!

Just wanted to say hi and state that after reviewing quite a few

posts on archive, I'm looking forward to learning and sharing

thoughts with you guys. I can't claim knowledge/experience beyond

that of a student, but can definitely make claim to a sincere

interest:)... If not inappropriate for a new member, I would like to

share my view on a topic covered in quite a few posts; Fate vs

Pre/Destiny... Certainly there are elements/conditions to which we

are predisposed and/or fated if you will. However, many tend to under

value/rate the gift/power of free will. On this issue, I'm a firm

believer in Both...Fate is that circumstance in which we find

ourselves having little or no control; Destiny is that which we

do in spite of it. Example: Two people born permanetely blind: One

lives in a world of darkness and succumbs to the darkness in every

aspect, the other; although just as blind, becomes a creative and

very happy individual. Both were fated/predestined to blindness, both

were free to shape their destiny as they will...We will not have

control in many situations, we do however, control our reactions and

thus our ultimate destiny...

heh:) if I haven't worn out welcome already, I would like to solicit

input on an opinion I have reached, per different astrological

systems. Just as wo/man consists of physical self, mental/egoic self,

and that which transcends Both, my (limited) research points to the

different astrology systems mimiking same; vedic/sidereal

representing the physical, tropical representing the mental/egoic

model, and draconic and heliocentric representing that which

transcends both. I know that for me, vedic chart shows who I really

am vice how I approach things (hope that made sense), and I've also

found the vedic chart superior in uncovering/predicting events.

Please accept apologies for a novice rambling, and any thoughts would

be appreciated/welcome.

Peace & Blessings

Dale

PS can't wait for the new jyotish program, and thank you so much Das

for such incredible programs, and such dedicated work in many areas:)

Hi, I'm new to the list too.

On fate vs. free will, I agree, the free will allows full control over our

thoughts and attitudes that guide our actions/reactions that we have full choice

of, to accomplish various objectives, but again the outcome of the

actions/reactions are not in our control. (as it has many human and natural

elements competing to dominate). Astrology helps us discover the nature of the

outcome. I have yet to learn how effective are remedial measures in changing the

nature of outcomes. I'd appreciate if anyone can indicate resources/books etc.

to learn more about these. I

Thanks,

Anita

Greetings and thank you for welcome and input Anita:) <sticking with

philosophy that outcomes are result of our thoughts/actions lol:)

Maybe I can be of a little help per your comments/request per remedial

measures. First, I highly recommend a visit to this site:

_http://astrogems.com_ (http://astrogems.com) This site offers really

good information on gemstones in relation to remedial measures, a free stone

analyzation based on your chart, as well as great products and prices. I also

recommend King Enterprises for info and products: can email for brochure and

info at _aldawn_ (aldawn) with RE:Gems as

subject line. My recommendations are based on actual experience as I've

purchased items from both and am on a rather limited budget. Both offer great

prodcts and prices, but the real standout is their support and willigness to be

of

assistance.:).

On question of effectiveness I can only judge/state from own experience, and

have no question per effectiveness. Will they negate that which is already

in motion? I can't state that the answer is yes; however, that they can lessen

imapct and make easier to deal with is beyond question...In short i will

state that in 94/95, a very good vedic astrologer recommended I purchase a

stone for fallen Libra Sun (ruby/garnet and tricky as 12th Lord, but really

needed) for current medical problem, and due to a negative prior experience

with

garnet, I agreed to an alternate (navaratna) which brought a much needed

peace & balance. in 96, major sun (heart/vitality/health) issues began hitting

hard and while they are permanent, subsequent use of a garnet bangle has made

an inmeasurable difference both physically and emotionally. This is extent of

my personal experience with vedic remedial measures, and all i can speak on.

Hope you find above useful/helpful.

Blessings

Dale

Hi,

I am sorry, but I do not agree at all. As far as I understand and know

it is written in various scriptures that the planets, which are called

grahas in sanskrit, which means seizers in english, make us perform

actions or karmas by influencing, some say perverting, our minds. Free

will is therefore extremely limited and can only happen in accordance

with our accumuated prarabhda karma which has to be suffered in this

life. You are free to take up sadhana, which will help you to suffer

your karmas with more detachment, that is all.

A good book is "The Greatness of Saturn", that is a translation of

Sani Mahatmya, the story of King Vikramaditya by Robert Svoboda.

Hi Chris and thanks for input:)...Respectfully, I have to disagree. They

impel Not Compel, nor do they Make us Do anything...Although I personally know

of many who choose to lay blame on such, rather than self. As my teacher

taught me and I agree with, "the vedic chart reveals our inherent karmic

patterns

for this life (good and bad), and the dashas reveal the timing of release

for the specific karmas." Once again; some things we cant control, but we still

shape our destiny based on our thoughts/actions, in spite of such... And

Yes, The Greatness Of Saturn is a very good book:), which I also highly

recommend.

Blessings

Dale
