Hello Dear Das, Dear List,

On another list, Das, someone posted your wonderful site and in particular your

Vedic Lesson # 3. You give a great amount of information there on the Nakshatra

Asvinni. Can you recommend any books in English for giving this same kind of

information and the stories for learning more about all the Nakshatras and also

the Gods of these Nakshatras?

You have listed the Maha Bharat and also Srimad Bhagavatam and in the Bhagavad

Gita. Can you tell me anything more about which versions in English you would

recommend?

I hope you are doing well and send you much love and joy,

Dear Patrice love,

I wrote those two "lessons" on the first two Nakshatras using my training as

a Hindu Monk in Hare Krishna and Gaudiya Math, ISKCON's parent movement, as

well as by consulting two sources- the

The Puranic Encyclopedia

and

The On CD-ROM complete works of Bhaktivedanta Swami, the founder of Hare

Krishna. His complete books and lectures, and letters, are all on one

searchable CD-ROM disk one can purchase. I used that to find Sanskrit

references within Srimad Bhagavatam mainly- that's his main contribution or

work, his translation of that, the most important Purana. Indespensible when

studying Hinduism.

To buy his complete Srimad Bhagavatam in book form is to buy a "set" of

books, like an encyclopedia, so that online CD ROM thing is a real good

idea.

I don't have a contanct for that. Search the web. I'm sure you'll find it.

Look for "Prabhupada Folio"

Then, contact JDR for the Puranic Encyclopedia, that's what it's called. I

can't remember the author right now, and it's not handy either. Sorry.

Seller of most Vedic Astrology Books in English, friendly, easy to work

with, has a catalog and same on web site.

I would look up Asvin and so forth in both, read all references and stories,

then read related stories, look at the Sanskrit word, read up on that, like

Asvin - what does it mean - horse - Asva, then Asvini- female horse- I know

about the Asvini Kumars from my Hare Krishna days- they were very commonly

discussed fellows in the Puranas- very famous in Hindu scripture, so I was

familiar with them. Two of the Pandavas were their incarnations for example.

So the knowledge I had, and the look up resources all came into play.

I should finish all 27, as many have asked me to based on the two I did

write. I liked doing it, like I like painting. I like writing and painting.

But like, right now, I'm going to push again to finish GJ3. So it's back to

programming. Maybe one day I'll get to finish writing the inside gossip on

all the "wives of the moon".

with love for you and all

Hello My Dear Roik,

Great to see you Das and doing so well. And terrific that you may one day

finish writing of all the wives of the Moon. - you are brilliant at this

kind of writing. It's written much like a painting... All your experience as

well as reading shows and is hugely valuable in understanding these

Nakshatras. You could write a successful book on this!

I'm happy to hear you're full throttle on GJ 3.

I appreciate your sharing the very clear way of going into each Nakshatra

and your thoughts on how to go about it.

I send you much love and joy,

Patrice
