There are a number of different approaches one can take here. The team

captain is one, also consulting the chart of the team manager or coach.

More than any other person on the field, he alone is responsible for the

outcome of the match.

Another approach I have experimented with is to cast a chart for the moment

of the start of the match and use the first house and its karakas to

represent the home team (or winner of the coin toss) and the 7th house for

the visiting team. After that, one follows the same procedure for analyzing

relevant varga charts.

I've recently started an astrology list devoted specially to sports called,

so feel free to contact me offlist for more info if you like.

Is there a one match in particular you were interested in looking at?

Horse racing is more difficult. Short of finding the birth data of all the

horses (possible but difficult) or the data of the horse's owner

(difficult), one method is to cast a chart for the start of the race and

assess the appropriateness of the symbolism of the names of each horse with

the chart of the race. You could start looking at the nakshatras of the Sun

Asc and Moon and using the names or phonic associations of the nakshatras to

match with the horses names. Also, when Funny Cide won the Preakness race

in the USA earlier this year, I believe Jupiter and Pluto were in near exact

aspect aspecting one of the angles. Jupiter can represent "funny" (the

Jovial planets) while Pluto is widely linked to death imagery in the West

and this might be extrapolated from the "Cide" part of its name as a suffix

used to indicate something to do with death (eg pesticide).
